Report (Jeremy Crowe)

Following an eventful race weekend, Jeremy Crowe is now 6th in the overall standings and 2nd privateer in the Australian Supersport Championship.

Qualifying

As a precaution, following the previous weekends meeting in WA, the team chose to change the engine in Jeremy’s bike for the SA round at Mallalla. The replacement engine was not of the same characteristics to the previous one which meant that Jeremy qualified lower than anticipated.

“ The slipper clutch was not the same in the replacement engine and the back end snapped out sideways under heavy braking into the hairpins. It made it difficult to ride in dices with other riders as I was conscious of not causing an incident with the back of the bike moving around so much” Jeremy said.

Race 1

The clutch issue from qualifying was worked on but not completely resolved for race 1. This meant that Jeremy was not able to get the start he would have liked and became involved in a big battle with several other riders and was unable to get away.

“Finishing 8th on combined results was a good result considering the trouble I was having with bike setup. Whilst we had made the clutch better for the race, the problem was transferring itself into the suspension, causing a lot of front end chatter.”

Race 2

Again improvements were made to the bike, including the use of a combination of parts from both engines to try and resolve the clutch problem, however, the sliding caused the rear tyre to wear more than normal and meant towards the end of the race Jeremy had to fight hard to maintain position. Again, he was involved in a heavy battle with other riders and was able to capitalise on other riders’ misfortune to finish 7th in the race.

Championship

Jeremy is now 6th overall and 2nd in the privateer battle behind team-mate Shaun Geromimi.

Jeremy would like to thank his team, sponsors and supporters.
