Unedited notes from live text update page on Sunday

  • 1630 - Provisional Results from the final Nakedbike race - A good race meeting, good weather, good crowd, no serious injuries, ran on time and exciting racing. One of the best ASC rounds I can remember that's for sure!
  • 1628 - Points for all classes apart from Nakedbikes - Superstock - 125 - Twins - Supersport - FX Cup - Superbike -
  • 1626 - Cartwright has escaped from Rattenbury now. Willis still hasn't managed to crack a 15 on the BMW. He has 7 seconds over his team-mate Stuart Fripp with two laps to run
  • 1622 - Final race of the day is Nakedbike and up front again it is Cartwright and Rattenbury going hammer and tong for the lead. Van Rooyen starting this race on I believe a 600cc machine after damaging his Aprilia earlier today and thus is not in the battle for third this time around which leaves BMW mounted Mark Willis in third place with clean air. His second lap a 16.1, Willis wants a 15 today though and this will be his chance to do it
  • 1607 - That closed things up in the championship for sure... Holland only a few points behind Jamie now...
  • 1602 - Holland through to the lead at turn three,  Stauffer gets him back up the inside at turn four, Holland gets him on the way to turn five, Jamie around the outside at the final turn, a drag to the line......... Holland gets it, what a ride!  He had to come from way back to do it and he will be one very happy boy indeed!  Provisional Results
  • 1600 - Holland put in another 69, a 69.88 to get right on the back of Krusty, then he got past Krusty under brakes for turn four with 2 and a half laps to run.  Then it looked as though Holland may have missed a gear out of turn two and he lost some ground to Jamie and was nearly rear ended by Krusty...  He regains some of that ground to get the last lap board 3-tenths of a second after Jamie... Krusty only a couple of bike lengths further back....
  • 1559 - Lapped traffic now, but the lapped rider keeps out of the way... Only 7-tenths covers the leading trio now setting things up for an exciting last couple of laps...
  • 1558 - 9.85 to Holland, the gap to Krusty now only 1 second and only 1.2 seconds to Jamie, four laps to run...
  • 1556 - 9.93 to Holland that time, the gap 2.1 seconds to Jamie, he is 1.6 seconds behind Krusty... He should get up to Krusty but the Joe Rocket man can make his Fireblade mighty wide and that might be what prevents Holland from being able to challenge Jamie...
  • 1555 - Holland down to 9.85 now, he just might do it, the gap to race leader Jamie Stauffer down to 2.7 seconds, six laps to run....
  • 1554 - Holland dips into the 9s again, 9.97, the gap now 3.3 seconds and he has pulled out more than four seconds over Bugden
  • 1553 - Holland has the gap down to 3.5 seconds now... 8 laps to run... He is going to really have to pull something out of the bag to catch the leading duo...
  • 1552 - Holland is having a go, drops down to the 9s, a 69.97 but that only gets him a tenth back on Stauffer as both he and Fergusson continue to set a hot pace up front...
  • 1551 - Fergusson still right on Jamie's tail.  Holland is through on Bugden and pulling away, now, can he close on the leaders... He has 10 laps to do it but it is a large four second gap he has to try and claw back...
  • 1549 - I believe Krusty has decided to use a treaded Supersport tyre in this race rather than a slick... Puzzling move but it is working for him, still right on the tail of Jamie. Holland being held up by Bugden, Stauffer and Fergusson have pulled away from them to the tune of three seconds...
  • 1547 - Stauffer and Fergusson getting away.  Holland moved past Dan Stauffer for fourth and his next target was Bugden. Fergusson first man in the 9s for this race, a 9.95 to move right onto Jamie's tail cowling... Fergusson thinks about a move under brakes at turn three but pulls out of it... Holland looking for a way past Bugden
  • 1545 - Krusty and Jamie both got off the line well and they go through turn one in that order, Bugden third.  Holland got a bad run off the line and was back in fifth and was at least a second behind the leaders by the time they got to turn three. Glenn Allerton had a massive highside at turn four and the Honda Racesafe people were on the scene and attending by the time the riders hit the main straight. I have said it before, but I'll say it again, our riders are now looked after better than any riders in any championship anywhere in the world. It is better than world class.  No red flag and the action still going on up front, Jamie and Adam the leading protagonists
  • 1542 - Superbikes on their warm up lap now
  • 1525 - FX Cup Race Three Provisional Results
  • 1520 - Fraser running away with this FX Cup finale.  Would be close to a record crowd here today I reckon, probably the biggest crowd we have had at an Aussie Superbike event this century according to my dodgy eye
  • 1518 - Championship Points for classes that are finished for the day - Superstock - 125 - Twins - Supersport
  • 1511 - FX Cup finale up next, then we have the main event, Superbike!
  • 1459 - Provisional Results
  • 1457 - The leading trio all in the 72s on the penultimate lap... Hectic last lap.  O'Halloran backs it in to take Aitchison at the final turn and keeps it under control to take the win by a tenth of a second, Jamie Stauffer rounds out the podium, Geronomi fourth, only half a second covering the whole quartet.  Then came Allerton, Crowe, Fergusson and Staring rounds out the top eight
  • 1455 - Aitchison and Stauffer down to the 72s now and putting in a big effort, Geronomi just put in a new fastest lap on lap 14, a 72.59, tussling with Jamie over third and working hard to get back on terms with Aitchison and O'Halloran, this race could still go to any of that four
  • 1453 - O'Halloran getting excited now, put in a couple of 72s. Jeremy Crowe putting in some fast laps to try and work his way forward from eighth, he is right behind Clarke and Fergusson
  • 1451 - Aitchison back in front and O'Halloran then pushed Geronomi back to third.  5 laps to run and the leading Yamaha quartet still covered by only half a second. Allerton has moved forward to take fifth place from Fergusson
  • 1449 - Geronomi underneath Aitchison for the lead at the final turn, Aitchison didn't relent but Geronomi nipped underneath him and kept it cranked on its side and in the end Aitchison had no choice but to let him have it
  • 1448 - O'Halloran looking for a way to challenge Geronomi, at the same time Geronomi is all over the back of race leader Aitchison as the race pasts the halfway mark
  • 1446 - O'Halloran pushed Stauffer back to third place now, but the leading four still running fairly tight and with nearly a second advantage over fifth placed Fergusson.  Allerton and Staring tussling over sixth place
  • 1444 - Geronomi past Stauffer to take second place now and trying to challenge Aitchison for the lead. The leading quartet running in close company now, only half a second covering the front four. Fergusson can't quite match them
  • 1443 - Waters has been drifting back as the laps count down, back to ninth place now just ahead of Jeremy Crowe.  Staring sixth, Allerton seventh, Clarke eighth
  • 1442 - Geronomi the first man into the 12s so far this race with a 12.84 to move past O'Halloran and up into third place
  • 1441 - Stauffer, Aitchison, O'Halloran the order up front, Geronomi still there in fourth and holding out Fergusson to keep it Yamaha 1-2-3-4
  • 1439 - As they start lap two it is Stauffer in the lead from Aitchison and the duo starting to get away. Fergusson got a bad start and was running around seventh but was quickly up to fifth
  • 1438 - Aitchison the early leader ahead of Stauffer and Geronomi was quickly up to third ahead of Josh Waters
  • 1435 - Supersport riders removing their time warmers on the grid now, getting ready to head off on their warm up lap
  • 1420 - Supersport up next.
  • 1419 - Pro Twins Race Three Provisional Results
  • 1412 - Final Pro Twins race underway now and this time McMartin is not getting away from Roe. Both riders running 73s
  • 1357 - Provisional 125 Results
  • 1355 - Rigoli and Moller then tussled for the lead under brakes into turn three and it ended in tears with both of them tumbling off into the kitty litter. That left Esler with a narrow lead over Galvin and Simmonds third.  Then on the next lap Simmonds seemed to slow with bike problems which allowed Hatton through to third place
  • 1354 - Esler to the lead now, the top five still close, Hatton seemed to lose a little ground on them on that last lap,  Simmonds also looking to be struggling to hang on to the back of the top four
  • 1352 - Four laps to run and still things as tight as a fishes bum up front.  Rigoli and Moller sharing the same bit of the track up front ahead of Esler, Galvin, Simmonds and Hatton. A second covers the top six
  • 1348 - 125 GP finale up and running now and again it is shaping up to be a busy battle for the lead. Brent Rigoli has the early advantage over Esler, Galvin, Simmonds and Moller. After two laps still only half a second covered that top five with Hatton a few bike lengths further back in sixth place
  • 1344 - 125s on their warm up lap now
  • 1336 - Quinn takes the win by a tenth of a second over Kokshoorn, Andrews third.  Provisional Results
  • 1333 - Quinn and Kokshoorn having a heady battle over the lead, Andrews two seconds adrift of them but well clear of Josh Houwen. Three laps to run
  • 1327 - Superstockers away for their final race of the weekend now and it is Andrews, Kokshoorn and Quinn the front runners  early on
  • 1248 - Provisional Results from Superbike Race One
  • 1247 - Krusty gets Robbie under brakes for turn three, he got a good run out of the turn also, but Bugden closes under brakes for turn four, the two side by side through the final turn but it is Krusty that gets the best run to the line to take the final spot on the podium.  Holland the clear winner, Jamie second.  A great race!
  • 1246 - Two laps to run and lapped traffic coming into play.  Holland has a good 1.8 second lead now however and is looking fairly safe. Jamie looks safe for second but the battle for third place has not been decided, Bugden has held the position for a number of laps but Krusty is sure to make a late charge...
  • 1245 - Holland was certainly being held up by Stauffer, he just backed up that 69.98 with a 69.83 to set a new lap record, lowering the mark again from what Krusty reset the lap record with early in the race
  • 1243 - Holland in the lead now, and this time Jamie doesn't come back at him. And Holland takes advantage of the clear air to dip into the 9s, a 69.98 to the Pirelli man.
  • 1241 - Krusty up the inside of Bugden into turn four that time around but Bugden gets him back in the middle of the turn as they stand it up again before tipping back in for turn five. Holland still with Jamie, showing him a wheel here and there.  And makes his move now, at turn three with six laps to run, Jamie back up the inside at turn four to take the lead back.  Bugden has closed on them again now, the Suzuki still certainly looks to have the most mumbo and Robbie is twisting the throttle off the tube he is whacking it open so hard on the exits of the turns!
  • 1239 - Stauffer and Holland have pulled a couple of bike lengths over Bugden and Fergusson now, but things are still close enough with 7 laps to run it to be anyone's game
  • 1238 - Bugden up the inside of Krusty at turn six to take third place, Holland getting ready to challenge
  • 1236 - The top four still virtually nose to tail, Krusty great under brakes, Holland good on entry, Jamie perhaps the best on the exit, mid-corner they are all on a fairly even par here, of course at this track they are not on the side of the tyre much at all and the tyre wear issue is the centre rather than the sides
  • 1235 - Half a second covering the leading quartet after five laps, Krusty the only man to dip into the 9s in this race thus far. Race pace on that last lap for all the leading four was around 10.6.
  • 1233 - Still Jamie in front, had 3-tenths on Holland at the end of lap three but that gap was down to less than 2-tenths as they started lap five and the leading quarter then really closed up with Stauffer, Fergusson, Holland, Bugden virtually nose to tail.  Fergusson briefly got second place but Holland took it back under brakes for turn four
  • 1232 - Krusty sets a new lap record on the second lap to close on Holland, Krusty is certainly trying hard and working for his money!  He is also on a harder tyre than most of the others so that might stand him in good stead late in the race.
  • 1231 - Still Jamie leading from Russell while Bugden is trying to challenge Fergusson for third. Shannon Johnson just moved past Dan Stauffer for fifth place
  • 1230 - Jamie Stauffer got the jump and kept the lead through the first turn, Holland second, Krusty third, Bugden fourth.
  • 1230 - Track temp is a warm 33c, Krusty is on a harder rear than most of the other Michelin runners while all the front running Dunlop boys have chosen the same rubber.
  • 1228 - Superbike on their warm up lap now
  • 1208 - Provisional Pro Twins Race 2 Results - Only seven finishers... - Superbikes up next!

Pos. No. Name Machine Mov. Laps Gap Lap Time Fastest On Lap
1 61 Craig McMARTIN Ducati 749 8 1:17.618 1:13.364 3
2 17 Paul ROE Aprilia RSVR 1000 8 3.199 1:15.128 1:14.402 2
3 24 Mick JOHNSTON Ducati 999 S 8 32.441 1:20.191 1:17.185 2
4 29 Jon COLLINS KTM Super Duke 8 52.732 1:21.408 1:20.513 6
5 32 Pete SMITH Ducati 900 SS 8 1:02.099 1:22.217 1:22.050 3
6 37 Nigel BRYAN Honda SP1 8 1:15.168 1:24.477 1:23.176 2
7 27 Damian SUTTON Aprilia RSVR 1000 8 1:16.001 1:22.658 1:21.742 7

  • 1206 - Craig McMartin cruised the final couple of laps to take the win easily, Roe second place, Johnston rounds out the podium 32 seconds behind the race winner.... Good job it was only an 8 lap race!
  • 1200 - Pro Twins race well underway, McMartin a country mile ahead of Roe then a fair way further back Van Rooyen and Taborsky were tussling over third place before Van Rooyen went down and took Taborksy with him when they were under brakes for turn three. Both riders up and okay
  • 1144 - The top four covered by 2-tenths of a second but it was Esler that had his nose in front to take the win ahead of Moller, Rigoli, Simmonds, Galvin, Hatton and Campbell.  Provisional Results
  • 1142 - The top five still having a titanic battle, I think Cath won't have minded too much that she crashed as she can enjoy watching the race from the tyre wall at turn five. The braking duels at every turn seeing the order of the top five change at virtually every turn. If they all make it to the flag it will be a miracle!
  • 1139 - With four laps to run the top five was covered by less than a second, Simmonds with the advantage over Moller, Esler, Rigoli and Galvin.  Hatton made a mistake early in the race that cost him plenty of time and is running in sixth place, nearly three seconds behind the leader but with the huge battle happening up front he has a good chance of catching them as they trip each other up
  • 1137 - Cath Thompson was pitched from her machine on the exit of turn five and looked winded but managed to get up quick enough to avoid the race being stopped. They don't come much tougher than Cath that's for sure!  Her machine continued on without her all the way to turn six!
  • 1136 - Simmonds, Esler and Galvin virtually side by side as they start lap three.
  • 1134 - 125 GP Race 2 underway now and it is Simmonds has the early advantage over Esler, Galvin and Rigoli
  • 1133 - FX Cup Race 2 Results
  • 1124 - Fraser put in a great race and looked certain for the win before running out of fuel at the last turn and was left to push his machine across the line for fifth place, a disaster for Fraser but a gifted win for Barnes ahead of Turner and Van Rooyen
  • 1113 - FX Cup race up next, it did get underway earlier but a red flag on the opening lap caused a restart and they are on their warm up lap for the restart lap
  • 1047 - Supersport Race One Provisional Results
  • 1045 - Last lap board now and Fergusson all over the back of Aitchison, Krusty will take second place or it will end in tears....  The R6 jumping off the turns a little better but Krusty awesome under brakes and on that penultimate lap put in a 72.8, not bad after 15 laps on a tyre!  Under brakes, around the outside at the final turn, but Aitchison and him banged elbows and Aitchison kept his line and basically forced Fergusson right out on to the grass.  So Jamie Stauffer an unchallenged win, Aitchison second and Fergusson third.  Geronomi fourth, Staring fifth, Waters sixth
  • 1043 - Jamie hadn't slackened his pace and again went under the lap record on lap 11 to increase his lead over Aitchison to over three seconds.  Fergusson again closing on Aitchison and will try to put in a late challenge for that second place
  • 1041 - Allerton had started from the fourth row and was tangled up in a battle over sixth place with Waters, Clarke and Crowe.
  • 1039 - Fergusson put in a whole lot of hard work to catch right onto the tail of Aitchison but then a mistake in the double left cost him nearly a second and had him shaking his head in frustration before putting his head down once again to try and claw back that gap again, but he only had five laps to do it, Geronomi and Staring running fourth and fifth while Waters, Allerton and Clarke had got the better of McMartin
  • 1036 - Adam Fergusson picking up speed and rapidly catching Mark Aitchison now, Shaun Geronomi not too much further behind and then it is Bryan Staring a few bike lengths further behind
  • 1034 - Some good battles happening throughout the field in this race but no battle up front, Jamie backed up that 72.48 with a 72.49 and then dropped it again to a 72.47, three laps under the previous lap record and covered by only two-hundredths of a second in variance.  That is absolutely unbelievable, and Jamie is far from fully fit, he can hardly talk his flu and throat are really affecting him
  • 1031 - Staring made a mistake into the double left and lost position, a surprise performer was Craig McMartin on the Ducati 749R in sixth place ahead of Josh Waters.  Jamie Stauffer sets a new lap record on lap five to push his lead out to 9-tenths of a second, his time a 72.48
  • 1029 - The Honda machines of Staring and Fergusson have the biggest brakes but Geronomi jumps off the turns a little better and thus gets good runs down the straights.  Geronomi up to third now and catching the two factory boys, but then Geronomi had to get out of the throttle after nearly highsiding in the double left.  Fergusson and Staring the got past him and Fergusson then moved past Staring for third place at the final turn. Jamie Stauffer starting to pull away from Aitchison though out in front....
  • 1028 - Geronomi, Staring and Fergusson then had some massive braking duels which tripped each other up and allowed Stauffer and Aitchison to start building a buffer. Geronomi the quickest man on lap two though and the top five covered by less than a second. Three riders fell at turn three at lap two but a red flag was avoided
  • 1025 - Jamie Stauffer can hardly speak due to a horrible flu but he can start okay!  #27 machine gets a good run off the line but Aitchison takes the lead in the run to turn one, Fergusson third, Staring up the inside of Fergusson at turn three and into third place Geronomi fifth. Staring on a mission and right on the Yamahas
  • 1023 - O'Halloran will not be allowed to start the race.  He was the cause of the red flag to stop the race thus he is not allowed to restart. It does not matter that he didn't cause the crash, the red flag was for the purpose of getting medical attention to him, thus he is not allowed to restart. The rest of the field on their warm up lap now
  • 1020 - We spoke too soon, Jason O'Halloran is back in pit-lane and looking for his spare bike, his Yamaha crew had not readied his machine on the grid as it seemed clear he wouldn't make the re-start but he wants his bike! His crew now have a spare bike running for him in pitlane and he should make it out for the warm up lap
  • 1014 - Aitchison is already on the grid ready for the re-start on his spare machine and getting his leathers dusted off by his crew. I think it is fair to say that O'Halloran won't make the restart of this one, the Wollongong youngster clearly not able to put any weight on his leg and in plenty of pain
  • 1011 - The incident was triggered when Aitchison got on the gas out of the first part of the left and his machine stepped out and kicked back leaving O'Halloran nowhere to go but into Aitchison's bike which sent O'Halloran and his bike into orbit, Geronomi was right behind them but somehow managed to avoid the sliding carnage.  It looks as though O'Halloran copped some injuries in the fall and he is still being attended to by the Honda Racesafe crew
  • 1007 - Aitchison and O'Halloran were battling for the lead over the duration of the first lap before tripping each other up in the middle double left hander and they both went down which brought out the red flag so we will have a full re-start when the carnage has been cleared
  • 1002 - Supersport riders taking their time warmers off now and getting ready for the warm up lap
  • 0942 - Supersport up next
  • 0937 - Cartwright broke his lap record on the final lap of the race to lower the mark to a 72.596 even though he had already done the runner from Rattenbury.  Willis a clear third place as he gets more familiar with the BMW that he threw a leg over for the first time at a race meeting here this weekend.  Provisional Results
  • 0936 - Cartwright down to 12s now and nearing the new lap record he set yesterday and has finally broken away from Rattenbury who has given up the chase. Willis will bring home a clear third place while Van Rooyen will battle for fourth with Stuart Fripp over this final lap
  • 0934 - Cartwright and Rattenbury having an awesome battle, virtually side by side everywhere or cutting each other up all over the place, if they both make it to the flag it will be a miracle.  Willis has managed to escape from Van Rooyen who in turn is starting to be caught by Fripp. Willis now a clear third but running 3 seconds a lap slower than the FZ-1 mounted leaders who with three laps to run have 13 seconds on Willis.
  • 0930 - Nakedbikes away and again it is Cartwright and Rattenbury immediately resuming the battle that kicked off yesterday, no love lost between this pair and no quarter given.  Third place early in the race is James Van Rooyen who is being chased by BMW mounted Mark Wills, the BMW has the speed but the Aprilia has the brakes.  Van Rooyen makes up 20 metres or so under brakes at nearly every corner in reply to the 20 metres Willis is able to pull away down the straights, corner speeds are not so different, but it is clear the Aprilia has a massive advantage under brakes and the BMW has a major top end horsepower advantage
  • 0926 - A good crowd building here already, it is a perfect day for racing. Already warming up here towards an expected top of 23c without a cloud to be seen on the sky and at the moment the wind is non existent. It wasn't even particularly cold here this morning which is a nice change as if we have had some very cold mornings out here at Willowbank over the years. But today I am glad to say is a pearler, and it looks as though the Queenslanders are coming out to support the event, and why wouldn't they on such a perfect day for a ride out to watch the racing.  Lining up this morning in the traffic lanes to get in the gate it also appeared that half of Brisbane must ride Fireblades!  Never saw a ZX-10R, GSX-R, R1 or nothing, but must have seen a dozen Fireblades go by me this morning
  • 0915 - The first race of the day is the second Superstock bout of the weekend and Anton Kokshoorn scored a ripper of a holeshot ahead of Anthony Quinn and Josh Houwen.  Quinn made a determined effort to beat Kokshoorn home and got the lead at some stages of the race but Kokshoorn again got the advantage.  Chris Trounson was running well before dumping it at the final hairpin around the halfway point of the race. As the race went on the battle between Kokshoorn and Quinn stepped up to another level with both riders dipping into the 15s and Kokshoorn did the fastest lap of the race on the final lap, a 1m15.30, to take the win ahead of Quinn while Houwen rounded out the podium a further seven seconds behind.  Provisional Results
