Supersport Race 1

  • 1045 - Last lap board now and Fergusson all over the back of Aitchison, Krusty will take second place or it will end in tears....  The R6 jumping off the turns a little better but Krusty awesome under brakes and on that penultimate lap put in a 72.8, not bad after 15 laps on a tyre!  Under brakes, around the outside at the final turn, but Aitchison and him banged elbows and Aitchison kept his line and basically forced Fergusson right out on to the grass.  So Jamie Stauffer an unchallenged win, Aitchison second and Fergusson third.  Geronomi fourth, Staring fifth, Waters sixth
  • 1043 - Jamie hadn't slackened his pace and again went under the lap record on lap 11 to increase his lead over Aitchison to over three seconds.  Fergusson again closing on Aitchison and will try to put in a late challenge for that second place
  • 1041 - Allerton had started from the fourth row and was tangled up in a battle over sixth place with Waters, Clarke and Crowe.
  • 1039 - Fergusson put in a whole lot of hard work to catch right onto the tail of Aitchison but then a mistake in the double left cost him nearly a second and had him shaking his head in frustration before putting his head down once again to try and claw back that gap again, but he only had five laps to do it, Geronomi and Staring running fourth and fifth while Waters, Allerton and Clarke had got the better of McMartin
  • 1036 - Adam Fergusson picking up speed and rapidly catching Mark Aitchison now, Shaun Geronomi not too much further behind and then it is Bryan Staring a few bike lengths further behind
  • 1034 - Some good battles happening throughout the field in this race but no battle up front, Jamie backed up that 72.48 with a 72.49 and then dropped it again to a 72.47, three laps under the previous lap record and covered by only two-hundredths of a second in variance.  That is absolutely unbelievable, and Jamie is far from fully fit, he can hardly talk his flu and throat are really affecting him
  • 1031 - Staring made a mistake into the double left and lost position, a surprise performer was Craig McMartin on the Ducati 749R in sixth place ahead of Josh Waters.  Jamie Stauffer sets a new lap record on lap five to push his lead out to 9-tenths of a second, his time a 72.48
  • 1029 - The Honda machines of Staring and Fergusson have the biggest brakes but Geronomi jumps off the turns a little better and thus gets good runs down the straights.  Geronomi up to third now and catching the two factory boys, but then Geronomi had to get out of the throttle after nearly highsiding in the double left.  Fergusson and Staring the got past him and Fergusson then moved past Staring for third place at the final turn. Jamie Stauffer starting to pull away from Aitchison though out in front....
  • 1028 - Geronomi, Staring and Fergusson then had some massive braking duels which tripped each other up and allowed Stauffer and Aitchison to start building a buffer. Geronomi the quickest man on lap two though and the top five covered by less than a second. Three riders fell at turn three at lap two but a red flag was avoided
  • 1025 - Jamie Stauffer can hardly speak due to a horrible flu but he can start okay!  #27 machine gets a good run off the line but Aitchison takes the lead in the run to turn one, Fergusson third, Staring up the inside of Fergusson at turn three and into third place Geronomi fifth. Staring on a mission and right on the Yamahas
  • 1023 - O'Halloran will not be allowed to start the race.  He was the cause of the red flag to stop the race thus he is not allowed to restart. It does not matter that he didn't cause the crash, the red flag was for the purpose of getting medical attention to him, thus he is not allowed to restart. The rest of the field on their warm up lap now
  • 1020 - We spoke too soon, Jason O'Halloran is back in pit-lane and looking for his spare bike, his Yamaha crew had not readied his machine on the grid as it seemed clear he wouldn't make the re-start but he wants his bike! His crew now have a spare bike running for him in pitlane and he should make it out for the warm up lap
  • 1014 - Aitchison is already on the grid ready for the re-start on his spare machine and getting his leathers dusted off by his crew. I think it is fair to say that O'Halloran won't make the restart of this one, the Wollongong youngster clearly not able to put any weight on his leg and in plenty of pain
  • 1011 - The incident was triggered when Aitchison got on the gas out of the first part of the left and his machine stepped out and kicked back leaving O'Halloran nowhere to go but into Aitchison's bike which sent O'Halloran and his bike into orbit, Geronomi was right behind them but somehow managed to avoid the sliding carnage.  It looks as though O'Halloran copped some injuries in the fall and he is still being attended to by the Honda Racesafe crew
  • 1007 - Aitchison and O'Halloran were battling for the lead over the duration of the first lap before tripping each other up in the middle double left hander and they both went down which brought out the red flag so we will have a full re-start when the carnage has been cleared
  • 1002 - Supersport riders taking their time warmers off now and getting ready for the warm up lap
  • 0942 - Supersport up next
