Unedited notes from live text update page on Saturday

  • 1707 - That's us done for the day, full results from all sessions will be up in the Winton portal which you can reach from the top of late braking news..  Back tomorrow!
  • 1705 - Andrews takes a convincing win ahead of Trounson, Quinn, McConnell, Bonthorne, Yates, Sciberras, Reid, Houwen, Carr, Higgins, Cowie, Griffin
  • 1702 - Houwen and Carr had a braking duel at turn 8 on lap five which had both of them overshoot the corner and go from fourth back to tenth!  Two laps to run now...
  • 1701 - Andrews way out front, Trounson has strengthened his second place over Quinn who in turn has broken away from Houwen and Carr
  • 1658 - Andrews has capitalised on the mistake of Houwen to sprint away from the field...With five laps to run the South Australian enjoyed a 3 second lead over Quinn, Trounson and Houwen
  • 1655 - Andrews cracked a 1m33 on the opening standing start lap....  Houwen led the way until he went in way too deep under brakes for turn 8 late on lap two which allowed Andrews through to a 1.1 second lead over Quinn who had the recovered Houwen right on his tail
  • 1654 - Superstockers off the line cleanly and they all remain upright through turn one with Houwen in the lead with Ian Andrews in tow
  • 1644 - McMartin takes the win, Roe second, Willis third then it was Johnston, Fripp, Van Rooyen, Smith, Gibson, Collins, Marukic, Russell, Sutton, Bryan
  • 1639 - Van Rooyen ran on a little at turn nine under brakes which cost him a little time and goes down to sixth behind Fripp
  • 1638 - Roe up to second now... McMartin has a 1.5 second lead over him with five laps to run...
  • 1635 - McMartin getting away now.... Roe all over Willis....
  • 1634 - Willis holding off the Ducati still, Roe not far behind in third also.... McMartin stuffs it up the inside at turn nine... He may get away now but the BMW might blow past him on the straight.....
  • 1632 - Mark Willis got a flyer from the startline, he has been great off the line this year on the BMW... McMartin's Ducati on his tail.... The Ducati will have the cornering entry advantage but the BMW has way more power
  • 1624 - Superbike Grid - Only a Pro Twin and Superstock race to go before the day wraps up
  • 1618 - Jamie didn't bother putting in a qualifier in that session, just used the session to test a tyre for race longevity.  The order looks as though it will be Jamie from Bugden, Holland, Giles, Charlton, Stroud, Waters, Allerton, Maxwell, Etheridge, Gurowski, Roe, Higgins, Tozer, Odendaal, Manning.  That's it, session ends and that will be the order of the grid for tomorrow
  • 1617 - Stroud improves, sixth quickest with a 1m23.38.  Charlton in fifth also improves to 23.14.... Bugden next one through with a sticky tyre on in these closing stages to put down a 22.66, one hundredth quicker than his earlier time... Flag out,  riders on their final lap now
  • 1614 - Gilesy heading back out of pitlane now with less than 3 minutes to run
  • 1613 - Four minutes to run and current order on combined time is Stauffer, Bugden, Holland, Giles, Charlton, Stroud, Waters, Allerton, Maxwell, Etheridge, Gurowski, Roe, Higgins
  • 1609 - Holland back up to third splitting Bugden and Giles, a 23.07 to the Pirelli man
  • 1608 - Bugden down to 1m22.67... The first man other than Jamie to get under 23,  Gilesy down to 23.14 now too as he gets his mind and body back up to Superbike speed...
  • 1606 - Charlton back up to third, 1m23.32
  • 1604 - Waters getting on top of the Kawasaki, up to seventh quickest just behind Gilesy who is returning from injury, Waters down to 1m23.68.  Gilesy heading out of pitlane again now, Bugden also heading back out
  • 1601 - Holland improves a little further, 23.43 to be back up to third by only two-thousandths of a second over Charlton
  • 1600 - Jamie is circulating in the 1-minute-22s continuously.... He is going to walk away with the races here tomorrow one would have to say
  • 1557 - One of the Suzuki boys having a red hot go...not sure who as yet from here.... It is Bugden, improves down to 1m23.26 and second quickest on combined time but quickest thus far in this session.  It certainly looked as though he had to try very hard for that time with the Suzuki wriggling around all over the place under brakes and slithering out
  • 1555 - Stroud improves to 1m23.56 to be fifth quickest, Giles getting back up to speed after his long time off the bike with a 23.74
  • 1553 - Holland had a plate and ten screws inserted in his collarbone less than two weeks ago and is struggling a little here this weekend with the strength to muscle his Fireblade around. Charlton up to third quickest now with a 1m23.43 to push Holland back to fourth
  • 1552 - Holland the first of the top runners to better his morning time, down to 1m23.442 now to be third quickest on combined times
  • 1547 - Superbike final qualifying getting underway now....  Will anyone challenge Jamie's time from this morning....?  Somehow I don't think so
  • 1542 - As they started the last lap Fraser was right on the tail of Barnes... Fraser got Barnes on the final lap but then dumped it at turn 8 to hand the win to Barnes.....  He remounts to salvage some points but Barnes gets the big points haul.  Whiteley home for second place ahead of Domaschenz, B Prest, Trounson, Sali, Pertzel, Van Rooyen. Fraser salvages tenth place behind Bradd McConnell
  • 1540 - It looked as though Barnes would run away with it but on lap six Fraser put in a 1m26.90 to close the gap down to 1.6 seconds... Fraser was more than a second quicker than any other rider on lap seven
  • 1537 - Brendan Prest up to third now
  • 1536 - With five laps to run in the FX Cup race it is Cam Barnes leading the way by 2.5 seconds. Third is Domaschenz
  • 1526 - FX Cup race up next before Superbikes head out for their final qualifier
  • 1519 - Sellar takes the win by 5.4 seconds over Treasure, Goldie third on the track but Knight will get third place in the results but Goldie was far enough ahead of fifth place Hutchinson to still take fourth in the results despite that ten second penalty. Bruce 6th followed home by Alton, James, Grubb, Lawrence, Levy and West
  • 1517 - Goldie is up to third place on the track but has that ten second penalty to be applied and in the final wash up will be pushed back a couple of places
  • 1515 - 3 laps to run and Sellar enjoying a five second lead over Treasure how in turn has pulled away from Knight
  • 1511 - The top trio spreading out a little now with Sellar getting the better of Treasure and pulling away in the lead.  Knight looking to try and challenge Treasure for second
  • 1509 - Goldie is running in fourth place in this sidecar race but has a 10 second jump start penalty to be added to his race time which will shuffle him down the order a little.  Treasure and Sellar engaged in a hectic battle over the lead with Knight watching on from behind
  • 1508 - Full Results from Australian Supersport Final Qualifying
  • 1507 - The Sidecars got away well and all was looking good until Soutar's passenger fell out of the sidecar!  But the race goes on with Treasure leading from Sellar and Knight
  • 1502 - Sidecars getting ready for their first race of the weekend
  • 1456 - Supersport Final Qualifying / Grid - TBC - Out of the top 8 Stauffer, Seaton and Waters set their fastest time in the morning session

  • 1436 - Dan Stauffer was taken to hospital as a precaution after his crash in the morning Superbike session.  He took a good whack to the head so will be under observation there for a few hours
  • 1433 - Jamie Stauffer showed that is fallible with a soft slide down the road early in the session that brought out the red flag as the bike was in the centre of the track. Jamie and his bike back in the pits now and the session has been restarted
  • 1420 - Supersport final qualifying underway now
  • 1416 - Cartwright wins by 10 seconds over Willis on the BMW.  James Van Rooyen third while Karl Corpe survived some hard attempts from Pete Smith to claim fourth place. Wolfenden sixth then it was Collins, Webster, Gibson, Middleton, Johnston, Ward, Mills, Cane, Marukic, Russell
  • 1412 - Cartwright 6 seconds ahead of Willis who in turn has 15 seconds on Van Rooyen who just got ahead of Smith and Corpe
  • 1410 - Robbie's machine has called it a day, problems just put him out of a strong third place.

  • 1407 - One of the BMW men ran on at turn five but remained upright in this first Nakedbike race which has been reduced to six laps. The man doing the grass cutting was Stuart Fripp.  Cartwright was streaking away in the lead from Mark Willis while James Van Rooyen was in a battle with Robbie Phillis until Rooyen ran on at turn one as they started lap two
  • 1402 - The race will be re-started very shortly, the track is clear
  • 1357 - All precautions are being taken in the case of spinal injuries but I believe both riders are conscious, just the utmost care being taken
  • 1352 - Two ambulances on the scene, fairly sure it was Rattenbury and one of the riders that was well down on the grid
  • 1350 - Nakedbikes are away but Rattenbury had dramas on the line and got cleaned up from behind in a huge accident
  • 1337 - Galvin regains the lead late on the final lap to take the win both on the track and on combined time.  So the race order on combined time, Galvin, Rigoli, Simmonds, Hatton, Thompson, Scott, Dunn, Wilkinson, Campbell, Metcher, Sutherland, Moller, Malley
  • 1336 - Rigoli back at him though on the final lap,  takes the lead in the tight section around the back of the circuit... But Galvin only needs to follow home to take the win on combined time....
  • 1334 - Galvin may have the measure of Rigoli in this one
  • 1332 - Rigoli and Galvin immediately recommence battle as soon as the flag dropped in the restart
  • 1328 - The 125 race will be restarted for five laps to make it a two part race.
  • 1322 - Gross just highsided out of turn 8 and his bike is laying in the middle of the track... Thus red flag is out, he is okay, sore but okay

  • 1242 - Bugden down to 23.3 now, Charlton down to 23.58, Allerton 23.8
