Winton Vic Round of ASC Qualifying - 2nd Race 1 - 3rd Race 2 - 4th Overall for Round – 4th Privateer 1st Practice With the weather forecast to be dry we were able to use a good baseline setting from previous practice at this circuit. By the end of Friday, Jeremy was happy with his gearing and suspension setup on his Sydney Mesh and Steel Yamaha. “ I knew that if conditions were good on the Saturday, I was capable of going under the lap record in qualifying” Jeremy said. In qualifying session 1 on Saturday Jeremy claimed provisional pole with a sub lap record time of 1:24:371 ahead of Mark Aitchison who was the only other rider to go sub 1:25. In qualifying session 2, Mark Aitchison was able to post a time of 1:24:195 late in the session, with Jeremy unable to better this time, achieving a best of 1:24:213, just 0.018 of a second short of pole position. Race 1 Jeremy got a strong start and was in 3rd place behind Aitchison and O’Halloran at the end of lap 1. Jeremy remained in third place for the rest of the race despite a late attack from Jamie Stauffer in a close run to the finish line. “ Mid way thru the race I started to make some ground on O’Halloran but I was working my rear tyre too hard and started to lose touch with him. I settled for 3rd but had to fight hard for this position as Jamie attacked in the last few laps.” Race 2 Jeremy got an excellent start in race 2, leading the race for the first few corners before the Yamaha team riders Aitchison and O’Halloran made their way past. Once the initial excitement of the first lap died down, he settled into his rhythm and began to push to regain contact with the lead pair. During this chase however, Jeremy was passed by Jamie Stauffer and was unable to defend 3rd position and was to finish the race in 4th place, which also meant 4th place for the round. Jeremy now has a 27 points lead in the privateer championship and is in contention for a possible 3rd place in the overall championship as it enters its final round at Eastern Creek on 17th – 19th November.
