Unedited notes from live text update page on Sunday

  • 1715 - That's it for our live notes, the normal huge run of pictorials will continue through the week and al the results will be available via late braking news
  • 1712 - McMartin takes the win, Roe second, Willis third.  Johnston fourth on track and fifth place James Van Rooyen was just over ten seconds behind him and thus even after his ten second penalty Johnston will still claim fourth.  Fripp sixth then it was Sutton, Smith, Marukic, Russell and Bryan
  • 1709 - Willis has broken away from Johnston now. McMartin has backed off and Roe only a couple of seconds behind him now with two laps to run
  • 1706 - Willis getting the BMW quite sideways in this one, laying darkies on the way out of the corners and the back also stepping out on him under brakes for the tight turns, he is running with Johnston and the two swapping paint virtually at every turn. Willis has no need though as Johnston has a ten second penalty.  McMartin in a race of his own out in front with a four second advantage over Roe
  • 1703 - Twins final race underway now and McMartin leads from Roe, Johnston in third place but has a ten second jump start penalty to be applied. Willis fourth on track
  • 1654 - Andrews will be ecstatic with his win after what has been a hard couple of months for the South Australian mechanic. One of his pit crew helpers was killed by a snake bike the same night as Andrews took his three from three win at Winton. And three close friends were killed in a road accident, Nic, Chantelle & Ben.  So certainly a year of highs and lows for Andrews

  • 1605 - Jamie takes the win, Giles second, Bugden third. Staring fourth, Johnson fifth, Holland sixth, Stroud seventh then it was Allerton, Maxwell, Roe, Charlton, Gibson, Gurowski, Spence, Odendaal.  Final points  Jamie 320, Russ 264, Bugden 204
  • 1604 - Johnson might have a last ditch effort to get Staring back but he has 7-tenths of a second to make up in order to challenge on this last lap
  • 1603 - Staring gets Johnson between turns nine and ten and immediately starts to pull away. Bugden has four seconds over him and with two laps to run that will be too much of an ask.  Jamie leads by 2.5 seconds over Giles who in turn has 8 seconds on Bugden
  • 1601 - Bryan Staring has a look up the inside of Johnson into turn two but can't pull it off, Johnson has always been a demon under brakes and corner entry and Staring is not accustomed to banging fairings with the Kawasaki man as Staring does not normally ride Superbike
  • 1559 - Jamie still leading from Giles. Bugden not caching Giles but Staring is inching closer to Johnson, the gap only just over half a second between them now as they fight for the honour of being the highest finishing Michelin man
  • 1557 - Jamie leads by 1.5 seconds now over Gilesy. Bugden has four seconds to make up if he is to challenge Giles for second place. Staring has 1.5 seconds to make up on Johnson if he hopes to challenge for fourth
  • 1555 - Stroud, Allerton and Holland tussling over sixth position, that group is 5 seconds behind fifth placed Staring with seven laps to run.  Johnson starting to struggle for grip now, he is running a Supersport tyre in this race after persisting with slicks for much of the season while the Honda boys changed to the Supersport rubber earlier in the season and thus have their bike set-up better for the treaded rubber and that could help the Honda men later in this race
  • 1554 - Bugden through for third place after getting the better of Johnson.  Etheridge ends his race in the tyre wall from ninth place
  • 1553 - Jamie through though around the back of the circuit, his previous lap was a 31.7, the only man to do a 31 thus far in this race. Shannon two seconds behind in third place and Bugden is now less than a second behind Shannon after pulling away from Staring
  • 1552 - Jamie on the tail of Giles for the run down the straight but not quite close enough to get the tow and while the Yamaha and Honda are fairly even in top speed they are no match for the top end howl of that Yoshimura Suzuki
  • 1550 - Giles still up front  but Jamie has got past Shannon Johnson and is closing in, the difference 7-tenths of a second and still ten lap to run.  Bugden is up to fourth after battling with and passing Staring but Staring is not giving up easily and the two are tussling for position all the way around the Eastern Creek circuit
  • 1547 - Stauffer passes Staring at the end of the straight, Staring back alongside up the inside to turn two but Jamie holds on to it and looking to close on Shannon Johnson.
  • 1545 - Superbikes away now and Gilesy has the holeshot and immediately streaking away. Shannon Johnson running a Supersport tyre in this one after his slick couldn't hold up in race one to the punishment. Gilesy the early advantage though, Shannon second, Bryan Staring third just ahead of Stauffer
  • 1530 - Provisional Results from FX Cup race three - Superbikes next

  • 1520 - Fraser leading Barnes in the final FX encounter by 3.6 seconds with five laps to run. Domaschenz third ahead of Bonacina, Trounson, Robinson and Grasser
  • 1512 - FX Cup race up next then it is the Superbikes out again for their final race of the year
  • 1505 - Moller takes the win on track and on combined time also, Galvin second for the title, Simmonds fifth, Scott fourth then it was Gross, Dunn, Metcher, Hatton, Frost, Campbell. So Galvin the champ, Hatton second in the championship
  • 1500 - Galvin again gets the best run off the line but Moller got him at turn four, the pair immediately breaking away from the field
  • 1456 - 125s on their warm up lap for the restart now
  • 1447 - Red flag is out so Rigoli can get some medical attention, possible lower limb injury to Rigoli but he is not in any danger
  • 1445 - Leigh-Smith with problems now and pulls over. Rigoli makes a much more spectacular exit tumbling down the road so a reduced field goes across the line to start lap four with Moller enjoying a healthy lead over Galvin who in turn has a clear gap on Simmonds, Scott, Gross, Dunn, Metcher, Hatton, Frost and Campbell
  • 1443 - Leigh-Smith continues to lead from Moller who is closing in on the leader. Galvin has let Moller go as he knows he just has to finish in front of Hatton to take the title and Hatton is going backwards, the WA youngster back to ninth now
  • 1442 - Leigh-Smith breaking away out in front now, Galvin second but being attacked by Moller then it is Scott, Gross, Hatton, Simmonds, Dunn, Metcher, Gleave.
  • 1441 - Galvin away in the lead, Hatton around fifth as they negotiate turns two and three for the first time. Moller and Leigh-Smith there also
  • 1440 - 125 finale about to get underway... Galvin leads by eight points from Hatton, this is Galvin's backyard and only a mistake or mechanical failure will cost him the title from here you would have to say...
  • 1430 - Provisional results from Supersport Race Two - 125 Championship decider up next

  • 1427 - Aitchison wins from Stauffer, Crowe, O'Halloran. Jones challenging Davies to the line for fifth but Davies holds on to it, Clarke seventh by a narrow margin over Seaton. Sam Smith won his battle with Quinn and Tomassetti for ninth place
  • 1425 - Aitchison leads by 5.6 seconds now, Crowe still with a handy buffer over O'Halloran then there is nearly 20 seconds back to Davies
  • 1420 - Stauffer has given up the chase of Aitchison now, he is 4.7 seconds behind his team-mate. Crowe maintaining his two second buffer over O'Halloran. Davies is 15 seconds behind O'Halloran in fifth position then it is Jones, Clarke, Seaton, Smith and Quinn rounds out the top ten
  • 1417 - Aitchison now leads by a full second.  Eastern Creek has not been kind to WA competitors with Mick Kelly's R6 doing a big end earlier today and Cam Stronach also just suffered a mechanical problem in this race
  • 1414 - Aitchison has responded to Jamie's challenge, the difference between the pair back out to 6-tenths.  Crowe 4 seconds down in third and still maintaining his buffer over O'Halloran.  Then there is another 8 seconds back to Davies who has 1.5 seconds over Jones and Seaton
  • 1411 - Stauffer now only 3-tenths away from Aitchison.  Crowe a clear third with a two second buffer over O'Halloran then it is a further five seconds back to Jones, Davies, Seaton, Waters, Clarke and Smith
  • 1410 - Geronomi just went out of the R6 show after making a mistake around the back of the circuit
  • 1409 - Stauffer has got away from Crowe and is closing in on Aitchison now. O'Halloran up to fourth ahead of Geronomi, Jones, Davies, Waters, Seaton and Clarke.  Yamaha 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 then two Kawasakis
  • 1406 - Final Supersport race of the season away now and again it is Aitchison out in front with Crowe and Stauffer while O'Halloran got off to a terrible start.  Waters started well but lost some positions late on the first lap to be pushed back to seventh behind O'Halloran. Geronomi fourth, Greedy fifth
  • 1401 - Some of our international riders are floating around here today. Aaron Gobert has been checking out the action and Josh Brookes also catching up with plenty of old friends and foes.

  • 1340 - Final Nakedbike race underway now and it is Rattenbury leading Cartwright, Van Rooyen
  • 1327 - Staring and Allerton still battling over fifth place with some ludicrously sideways angles of attack happening. Jamie is clear out in front and on course to give Yamaha their first ever Australian Superbike Championship title.  Jamie smoking his Yamaha up around the final turns in a salute to the crowd...Only metres to go..... Jamie is the man, he has dominated things like we have never seen before this year and is a worthy champion.  Giles second, Bugden third, Johnson fourth, Allerton fifth, Staring sixth, Stroud seventh. But after the time penalties it will be Stauffer, Bugden, Johnson, Allerton, Staring, Holland in this part of the race but it is of course a two part race thus the final overall race results are.... Stauffer, Bugden, Johnson, Giles, Holland, Staring, Allerton, Stroud, Etheridge and Gibson rounds out the top ten. There could be a protest about Johnson's tyre swap though so that will need to be shaken down before his result is 100% official but Jamie is the champ and there is no doubt about that
  • 1325 - Glenn Allerton through on Staring and completely sideways on the way into turns and on the way out!  Crazy stuff. Johnson the fastest man on the track in fourth place and closing on the Suzukis
  • 1324 - Shannon Johnson on Staring and challenging for fourth place. He is through, Johnson on a mission from the back of the grid
  • 1323 - Giles and Stroud both have been hit with a ten second jump start penalty.
  • 1322 - Jamie pulling away again, has a second over Bugden in second who is running with Giles. Staring in fourth ahead of Stroud, Holland and Allerton
  • 1321 - They are away now in the restart for five laps but it looked as though Gilesy jumped the start so will probably get a ten second jump start penalty wrecking his fairly safe podium finish.  Shannon Johnson scything through the field on this first lap with his near rear tyre
  • 1320 - Shannon Johnson will start from the back of the field
  • 1319 - It has been deemed that we will have no lunch break at all in proceedings... Hopefully somebody is running around with plenty of food and drink for the flaggies who will be sweating it out here today
  • 1317 - Some conjecture about the fact Shannon has a new rear tyre in....
  • 1316 - Talking of mums... My mummy isn't here to look after me so Bryan Staring's wonderful mother has adopted me for the weekend and just furnished me with some nice sandwiches for lunch so I don't have to risk a coronary by eating the Eastern Creek racetrack tucker
  • 1315 - I know how many mums will be giving me daggers over that comment and I already have had some feedback saying that no if it was up to women we would be having a lunch break!
  • 1312 - Okay... The race officials must be female as it seems they have changed their mind once again and we are going to have a re-start again shortly so the riders are now heading out of pitlane again now to form up on the grid where the teams will again have to mount the tyre warmers again. Just what you want to do with hot ambient temperatures and a track temp around 45c
  • 1300 - Riders have left their machines on the grid now. Early lunch break is going to be taken now as the track is cleared. The Superbike race will run its course after lunch. Johnson came into the pits as soon as the red flag came out as he had destroyed his rear tyre in the sweltering conditions... We will wait for the situation to shake itself out as final decision are yet to be made in regards to some things I think...
  • 1252 - The riders came back around to sit on the grid after the red flag and their teams rushed out there with the tyre warmers etc. as they get ready for a restart.  The riders will be sweating it out in their leathers surrounded by some very hot machinery as they await a restart which is likely to be some time away as the track crews sweat it out sweeping cement dust on the track where Maxwell's machine spat out it's black lifeblood in spectacular fashion
  • 1248 - Shannon's Kawasaki has been wheeled into the pits so it does appear that he did have some major problems with the ZX-10R.
  • 1247 - BANG - Wayne Maxwell's Kawasaki just emitted a smokescreen of Hollywood proportions all the way down the main straight.  Red flag came out only seconds afterwards... The race will be restarted for the final six laps....
  • 1246 - Shannon Johnson must have had a problem or made a mistake as he had two seconds on Holland but the Pirelli shod Honda man just went past Johnson's Kawasaki and sprinted away from him...
  • 1244 - Stauffer leading by a comfortable 3.5 seconds. Bugden in third and not catching Giles. Bugden has sneaked away from Johnson though. Holland on his own in fifth but that battle for sixth still a close run affair between Staring, Allerton and Stroud. Maxwell ninth, Etheridge tenth.
  • 1242 - Stauffer leads by 3.3 seconds now, Giles maintaining his two second lead over Bugden and Johnson. Holland trying to stay in touch with Johnson but doesn't seem to have the pace to do it. Staring in sixth place with his team-mate right on his tail and Stroud has closed right up onto the tail of the Joe Rocket Honda pair...
  • 1240 - Jamie leads by 3.1 seconds now. Bugden is nearly two seconds behind Giles in third but has started to lap marginally quicker than his team-mate, Johnson going with him but Holland is being left behind...
  • 1239 - A fierce little battle is unfolding over sixth place with Staring, Allerton and Maxwell the protagonists, Stroud there also
  • 1237 - Bugden passed Johnson, Holland closes on the duo now also as the battle for third hots up. Jamie leads by 1.5 seconds on Shawn. Jamie backed up his 31.9 with a 32.0. The top five have all done a 32 on one of these early laps but Jamie the only man to crack out a 31
  • 1236 - Jamie down to 31.9 on lap two, Shawn a 32.5 to stay less than a second behind the Yamaha. Johnson in third with a couple of bike lengths on Bugden who in turn has a couple of lengths on Holland in these hot and sweaty Eastern Creek conditions
  • 1234 - From a standing start Jamie put in a 37.1 and Shawn a 37.4... Holland in fifth and inching a little closer to Bugden
  • 1234 - Bugden challenging Johnson for third place. Jamie trying to get away but Gilesy hanging on
  • 1232 - Superbikes away... Jamie into the lead ahead of Giles and Johnson, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki.
  • 1212 - Superbikes up next, ambient temp is just over 30 and track temp just over 40 so a little cooler than yesterday afternoon when the track temp cracked 60
  • 1211 - Provisional Results from Sidecar Race 2

  • 1149 - Pierpoint debuting a Benelli TNT this weekend and running 42s and 43s, holding off Fripp in sixth place with a lap to run. McMartin has escaped from Roe now. Willis a clear third place well ahead of Van Rooyen
  • 1147 - McMartin dips into the 35s to pull a narrow gap over Paul Roe. McMartin having to work for it this weekend. Two laps to run
  • 1145 - McMartin and Roe going hammer and tong in the Pro Twins race, both riders in the 36s.  Next best is Willis who is in third with a clear gap back to Johnston in fourth who is then followed by Van Rooyen, Pierpoint, Fripp and Sutton
  • 1125 - Results from Supersport race one - Twins up next, then the sidecars followed by the first Superbike race of the weekend
  • 1124 - One of the crashed bikes caused a bit of a grass fire which is being extinguished now.
  • 1122 - Crowe down.  Struggling to get up and going again.... Aitchison takes the win from O'Halloran, Stauffer third.  Crowe was a long way in front of Greedy but didn't get going again quick enough to salvage that fourth place so Greedy gets fourth, Jones fifth, Davies sixth, Waters seventh. Something must have happened to Seaton on the last lap
  • 1121 - O'Halloran up to second now, Crowe closing on them too...
  • 1119 - Aitchison still putting in low 34s, lap after lap.  Leads by over four seconds now. O'Halloran is staying in touch with Stauffer
  • 1116 - Aitchison leads by 2.7 seconds, Stauffer second but not clear of O'Halloran. Crowe in fourth with a handy buffer over Greedy, Seaton, Jones, Davies, Waters and Clarke
  • 1114 - Greedy has got the better of Seaton, the Kawasaki man looking to be struggling for rear grip with the back end breaking away on him out of the tighter turns
  • 1113 - Stauffer up to second now but it's unlikely he will catch Aitchison who 2.3 seconds on him...
  • 1111 - Aitchison leading by 2.1 seconds now while Stauffer stalks O'Halloran
  • 1109 - 9 laps to run and Aitchison has 1.5 seconds on O'Halloran who in turn has Stauffer right on his tail. Crowe a couple of tenths behind then quite a long way back to Seaton in fifth who is followed by Greedy, Jones, Davies, Waters and Smith rounds out the top ten
  • 1107 - New race lap record to Aitchison, a 1m34.1 breaking Brookesy's lap record from way back in 2003.
  • 1106 - Aitchison sneaking away from O'Halloran now, Crowe back to fourth after possibly making a mistake somewhere... Geronomi was catching from behind before his R6 decided to somersault itself off into the bushes but thankfully his bounces were nowhere near as damaging and he was up quickly.  Tough little bugger he is
  • 1103 - Supersports are away and it is Aitchison away well from Crowe, O'Halloran and Stauffer in fourth.  Stauffer will take no risks in this one as the 600 title is already is and he has to be fit to try and take the Superbike crown this afternoon
  • 1047 - Supersport up next
  • 1045 - Provisional results from FX Cup Race 2

  • 1043 - Fraser takes an easy win, Barnes second, Domaschenz third
  • 1041 - Barnes back up to second place now, he must have just made a mistake on that previous lap that cost him a lot of time but he is back up to speed again now
  • 1039 - Barnes has experienced a problem or has made a mistake somewhere as Domaschenz has caught and passed him but Fraser has a lead of nearly 15 seconds
  • 1037 - Barnes is not going to catch Fraser at this rate.  Fraser's best time would have put him ahead of many riders in the Superbike category if he did it in Superbike qualifying!
  • 1035 - Fraser in clear air and just put in a 35.8... Not bad at all for a C/D grader rider!
  • 1032 - FX Cup race away now and it was Fraser and Barnes away the best but around the back of the track Barnes was up out of the seat after the back end snapped sideways and nearly launched him into orbit which gave Fraser a nice clear lead. Trounson and Domaschenz tussling over third while Van Rooyen and Kokshoorn follow from close astern
  • 1031 - Mr Plod is very active again this morning around Eastern Creek so be aware as you approach the track if you are coming out today

  • 1022 - Galvin snatched second on the line as Rigoli relaxed too early on the run to the flag.  That could be vital in the championship standings, Galvin now on 360 and has an eight point buffer now on Hatton who crossed the line in sixth. Moller a great ride for a clear win
  • 1021 - Galvin got away from Simmonds and third was looking safe for him but Simmonds is coming back at him now. Hatton is up to sixth but that is about all he can hope to get, he may get fifth if he is lucky but no better.  Moller looks set for the win as Leigh-Smith has had to retire with bike problems
  • 1015 - Still Leigh-Smith out in front, Moller up to second place and closing in a little, Galvin and Rigoli fighting over third place. Hatton still down in eighth, it is vitally important that Hatton make up some places to take good points in this race if he is to keep his championship hopes alive
  • 1011 - 125 GP machines underway now and it is Blake Leigh-Smith from Galvin. A terrible start for championship contender Tom Hatton, down in eighth spot on lap one
  • 1000 - Trounson takes the win, Houwen second, Carr third. Andrews takes sixth. That means Andrews will go into the final race with a 19 point lead so will only need to pick up a few points to make the title his.  Next up is 125 GP race

  • 0957 - Some miscalculations on my part there, Andrews needs a lot more than a top ten to take the title and it will go down to the wire here.  Trounson looks set for a win and Andrews should take sixth
  • 0955 - Andrews would have got that position from Quinn anyway in the wash up as Quinn has a ten second jump start penalty to be applied in the final results
  • 0953 - Andrews up to sixth now, Trounson leads by 3.3 seconds after three laps are down
  • 0951 - Trounson leads by 2.2 seconds now, exactly where he wants to be, Andrews only needs a top ten finish to wrap up the title and he is currently seventh which will be enough but he won't enjoy being back in the pack while Trounson is in clear air out in front
  • 0950 - Trounson sneaking away from Houwen now
  • 0949 - Superstockers away now and again Ian Andrews' day again did not get off to a good start as the South Australian was down in seventh at the end of lap one while Trounson and Houwen battled for the lead up front, Quinn in third, Higgins fourth
  • 0943 - Mark Willis was forced to retire from that race giving away an almost certain podium as on lap two he was in the 38s on the BMW making him the third fastest in the field behind only the FZ1s of Cartwright and Rattenbury
  • 0937 - Jon Cartwright just won the first race of the day here under beautiful sunny skies at Eastern Creek. Both Cartwright and Rattenbury dipped under the Nakedbike lap record late in the race.  Provisional Results
