Supermoto mania heads north, this month to Queensland’s famous Willowbank Raceway. The International Karting facility near Ipswich will be a ‘hive of activity’ for this spectacular ‘end of season finale’. Round 6 of the Ssangyong Australian Supermoto Championships are set down for Saturday June 24th and the action is sure to be hot and heavy as the final chapter of this incredible season unfolds.

The 1140m Supermoto Circuit was recently built & tested with the 3rd round of the Queensland Supermoto champs, positive feedback has come back from the awesome venue from racers and spectators alike. Incidentally the Supermoto coincides with the Toyo National Drift car meeting, which will be held on the main QLD raceway on the Saturday Night from 4pm and all day Sunday. So keen motor Racing fans can catch the 2 wheel supermoto drifting all day Saturday then watch the high speed , high Powered 4 wheel action that night under lights or on the Sunday.

In the premier SM2 class the all conquering Stuart Bennett (Motorex KTM) will have to fend off Australia’s best Supermoto talent, as he attempts to take his first National SM2 title. The KTM teamster has had to settle for the runner-up position for the last two years but the multi-talented Bennett has put together an incredible season and has a very slim 2 point cushion from Young Gun Troy Herfoss as we enter the final round at Willowbank. Bennett is on a mission for 06’, is in absolutely sizzling form at the moment and desperately wants the title that eluded him for so long. However Troy Herfoss fly’s back from a 3 round stint in the USA AMA championship looking to steal Stuarts Glory.

Troy made the podium in the AMA at Round 3 and is currently running 4th in the prestigious series. Troy said, "I am race tuned at the moment having to run with these top USA guys, however the Aussie guy’s pace is still hot and I’m sure I’m not going to get it all my own way. I’ll just stay focused and go for the title” Troy will surely be the man to beat on the day, but anything can happen in this action packed racing..... Just 8 points separate these 3 riders Adam Cini, Taplin (Axis Honda), Ben Grabham (GHR Honda), and all these riders have a chance at the final podium spot. Mark Avard (Team Yamaha), Nick Brain & Danny Ham will be amongst the usual dog-fight at the front This racing is guaranteed to be as hot as it gets, with high stakes on the line.

The SM1 spotlight will also be on Queensland’s own Adam Cini (Motul Husqvarna).  The ex-motocrosser only started racing Supermoto this year and has way exceeded expectations anyone had for his debut season. After 5 blistering rounds, Cini leads the big bore SM1 class by a slim margin after the Drop worst round rule margin from Arch-rival Graham Cheney (Motorex KTM) who has won the last 2 rounds and is clearly the fastest man on the track at the moment, but poor early season form has left him short on points. If the young Queenslander should falter, Cheney will be there to pounce, Cheney needs to win all three Moto’s to take the Title. Watch out for the classic state of origin duel between these two. The other front-runners Jamie Cunningham (GHR Honda Racing) & Angus Reekie is another newcomer to the Supermoto racing and is showing to be a threat at the top of the S1 Class, Reekie sits in a solid 4th position and may gain a place should disaster strike the leading bunch, Cunningham running 3rd is still in for a shot at the win in the Championship as well with 75 points up for grabs on the day.

Team GHR Honda’s Ben Grabham is in the best form of his life but has had to juggle Offroad duties & Supermoto all year. One of Australia’s quickest enduro riders,
2006 is Grabhams’ debut season in Supermoto and outstanding is the only way one could describe it. He is undefeated, no one even close, in the small bore SM3 class and has twice finished on the podium in the SM2’s. Benny has always been ultra-competitive in both classes, and will take home the National SM3 title but will still have his work cut out for him on the day, with a one off ride Ryan Marmont (Motorex KTM) looking to steal some of Ben’s Glory along with Jacob’s & Galloway in the hot 250 class.
