250 Race |
| Roberto Locatelli got the best run
off the line with Yuki Takahashi and Andrea Dovizioso in tow.
Anthony West got a bad start and was outside the top ten in the
opening laps. Alex De Angelis hit the lead early on and Hector Barbera slotted into second place and had Jorge Lorenzo nipping at his heels while Dovizioso gave chase. Anthony West worked his way up to ninth place as the race past its halfway point and then moved into eighth on lap 16. Alex De Angelis stepped things up to another level as the race entered its second half to stretch his lead out to 1.2 seconds while Lorenzo had his hands full holding off Takahashi, Barbera and Dovizioso. Anthony West made his way up to seventh and was in a hectic battle with the Aoyama brothers and Guintoli. West's machine suffers quite a power deficit to the factory machines he was battling with which certainly made his task harder than it should have been. Takahashi moved up to second place and along with Jorge Lorenzo the duo started to eat into the lead of De Angelis. Takahashi put in an awesome lap on the penultimate circuit of the Sachsenring track to close right onto the tail of De Angelis and nosed in front early on the last lap but De Angelis got him right back and put the hammer down again to eke out a couple of bike lengths but Takahashi put a blinder of a run into the final turn to steal the win. Anthony West managed to hold off the Aoyama boys on the run to the line to take seventh place. Jorge Lorenzo's third place was
enough to edge him in front of Andrea Dovizioso at the top of the
championship standings while Takahashi's win promoted him in to
third place in the standings ahead of De Angelis. |
