250 Race

From our LIVE page, unedited transcript of how we called proceedings - Start from the bottom and scroll upwards

  • 1405 - Lorenzo takes the win by 9-thousandths of a second as De Angelis just missed out on getting him at the line.  Hiroshi Aoyama took the final podium position ahead of Dovizioso and S Aoyama, Barbera 6th, Locatelli 7th, Smrz 8th, West 9th, Simoncelli 10th, Heidolf 11th  then it was Cluzel, Poggiali, Perren, Espargaro and Ballerini
  • 1404 - Lorenzo had blitzed everyone in qualifying and looked sure to run away with this race but De Angelis was making him work hard for it... Right on him on the last lap...
  • 1403 - Westy up to ninth now after edging past Simoncelli, eighth place certainly looked out of his reach however as there was a huge gap forward to Smrz in that position.
  • 1359 - Westy had bridged the gap to ninth placed Simoncelli with four laps to go and started to challenge the Gilera man for that position
  • 1357 - Lorenzo pulled away a little on lap 19 but De Angelis pulled a little ground back again on lap 20 to close within striking distance again
  • 1352 - De Angelis was the quickest man on the circuit on lap 17 and started to challenge Lorenzo. Both men Aprilia mounted, the hard pull up to enjoyed by the Aprilia men proving valuable at this fast and flowing circuit. Lorenzo has set the fastest speed thus far in this race with 277kph
  • 1350 - De Angelis continued to shadow Lorenzo as the laps wore on.  Aoyama and Dovizioso were 1.7 seconds behind that leading pair with 10 laps to run.  Anthony West was in a clear tenth place with a big gap to make up if he was to claim ninth but at the same time was along way ahead of 11th placed Heidolf
  • 1344 - De Angelis pulled back 3-tenths of a second as they broached the halfway point of the race to close within a couple of bike lengths of Lorenzo. The pair had started to pull away from Dovizioso and Aoyama as that pair tussled for third
  • 1343 - Lorenzo stretched his advantage out to half a second in just one lap after taking the lead but De Angelis was trying hard to bridge the gap and pulling back a little ground on Lorenzo in some corners
  • 1341 - De Angelis is managing to keep his nose in front but only just as Dovizioso, Lorenzo and Aoyama joust between themselves for position.  The quartet went down the main straight virtually line abreast on lap 10.  They maintained station through turn one but the next lap around Lorenzo slingshotted from fourth to the race lead and by turn four had built himself a buffer amounting to a few bike lengths.... He was looking to break away and had the hammer down
  • 1333 - That leading quartet were carrying much more speed than the rest of the field and with 20 laps to run already they were 7 seconds ahead of fifth placed Locatelli
  • 1329 - De Angelis led from Dovizioso in the opening laps with Lorenzo and H Aoyama trying to stay in touch also. Guintoli crashed out of the race but was okay
