Andrea Dovizioso started from his first pole position in the 250cc class and also the first pole for the year for Honda. Dovizioso and Takahashi broke away early on from Locatelli, Lorenzo, De Angelis and Barbera. Jorge Lorenzo went out of the running after Locatelli took his front wheel away. With seven laps to run Dovizioso and Takahashi were still running quick out in front but putting in some fastest laps in hot pursuit were the Aoyama brothers, Hiroshi and Shuhei. The Aoyama brothers had narrowed the gap to the leaders down to only 1.8 seconds as they got the last lap board but were not close enough to mount a challenge for the win and were left to fight amongst themselves for that final spot on the podium. Takahashi sneaked past Dovizioso but Dovizioso came right back at him and the two repeated that turn of events again before that final lap was out. Takahashi then got under Dovizioso under brakes, the two swapped again at the final turn and then it was a drag to the line and it was Yuki Takahashi who took the win. The battle of the Aoyama boys ended with Shuhei scoring that final step on the rostrum. Anthony West had major grip issues and had to fight hard just to secure an 11th place finish. Dovizioso extended his championship lead over Barbera to 14 points while Hiroshi Aoyama closed to within 3 points of Barbera. Takahashi's win promoted him past Lorenzo into fourth position in the standings.
