Michael Ranseder, Alex Masbou,
Simone Corsi, Mika Kallio and Julian Simon all ended their races
only a couple of laps into the 22 lap 125cc encounter at Circuit
De Catalunya after going down in separate incidents. A
disastrous 125 race for KTM with all three of their riders down
and out only a couple of laps into the race. After the race entered its second half the leading group had narrowed to half a dozen with Pasini leading from Pesek, Bautista, Faubel, Luthi and Gadea while Nieto had started to fade. With a few laps to run Hector Faubel stepped his game up another notch with a new fastest lap of the race and lap record and started to pull away from his pursuers along with his Aprilia team-mate Alvaro Bautista. As the Spanish pair got the last lap board they were side by side. Only a couple of bike lengths further behind and ready to capitalise on any mistake was the third rider in the MVA Aspar Team Sergio Gadea.
Championship leader Alvaro Bautista proved the strongest in the
run to the flag to take the win from Faubel with Gadea
completing the MVA Aspar podium trifecta.
That win is
Bautista's third for the season and extended his championship
lead to a massive 56 points over non finisher Mika Kallio.
Mattia Pasini and Hector Faubel are tied for third place in the
series with 87 points apiece, four points ahead of fifth place
Gadea. |
