Troy had been looking forward to Superpole this afternoon until conditions at the Eurospeedway Lausitz changed and weather became cooler. Today, and recently, it seems that the qualifying tyres he and the team use in Superpole do not have the same level of grip when the track temperature decreases - and that was what happened this afternoon. Although Troy tried his best, he knew, from very early in the Superpole lap, that today was not a day that he’d win a watch. Troy Bayliss (Ducati) took Superpole after heading all practice sessions, with Noriyuki Haga (Yamaha) second, James Toseland (Honda) third and Andrew Pitt (Yamaha) fourth.

"The funny thing this year is that how the qualifying tyres have been working when the temperature changes. At the beginning of the season, I felt that the tyres (race rubber and qualifying) worked a bit better when the conditions were cooler. Now it seems that our qualifying tyres work a bit better when it’s not so cold! But, race rubber does not seem to have the same problems. Of course, there are lots of factors involved and, as we’re are using a different clutch this year, we are also working on quite few things. But, I’m not too unhappy with the second row, because the first corner is quite a long way down and if I make a good start then I can be up with the leaders OK. That is, as long as I don’t hit anybody - or get hit by somebody! It’d be good to finish two races tomorrow."
