Only minutes after one Australian lifted a World Titles in the Superbike class Kevin Curtain was to have his chance of making it an Aussie double if he could manage to score three more championship points than Ten Kate man Sebastien Charpentier.  Kenan Sofuoglu got the holeshot with Kevin Curtain on his tail and Fujiwara right in the mix also. Harms was also in the front pack but went down only halfway through the first lap and defending World Champion Charpentier was in fourth position. A lap later Charpentier was up to third place and closing on Curtain.  Broc Parkes was putting in a gutsy ride in his comeback from massive injuries sustained only a few weeks ago at Assen to be running in seventh place.

Lap four saw Charpentier take second place from Curtain before setting out after his team-mate.  Three laps later Charpentier arrived on the tail cowling of his team-mate and started to look for a way past. The Ten Kate men easily the quickest men on the track and Curtain could only try to keep them in sight as third place looked like the best he could do today.

By half race distance the Ten Kate pairing had 3.5 seconds on Curtain who in turn had a handy buffer over fourth placed Nannelli.

Charpentier sat on his team-mates tail lap after lap but the young Turk motioned for him to take the lead on lap 15 of the 21 lap race. The extra five points for the win over the 20 for second place all important in Charpentier's efforts to prevent Kevin Curtain from taking his title in Italy and send the fight for the title down to the wire at his French home ground at Magny Cours next weekend.

Charpentier took the win ahead of his team-mate and Curtain brought home third place but the Frenchman's win means that the title will go down to a thrilling finale at Magny Cours and Curtain will arrive in France with an 18 point lead to defend.

Broc Parkes scored a gutsy sixth place in his return from injury but slipped to fourth place in the standings behind Sofuoglu.
