Although Troy didn’t take a win at
Magny-Cours today, his two podiums meant that he finished the
season on a high - particularly after his recent
disappointments. Both 23 lap races were fantastic spectacles for
the 61,000 strong crowd and TV viewers worldwide and the best
possible way to end the season.
Troy was challenging for the lead in both races and the pace was fast, frantic and unremitting throughout. Toseland (Honda) won the first race, with Haga (Yamaha) second and TROY third. The second race was another frenetic dogfight, but this time newly-crowned champion Troy Bayliss (Ducati) took victory, with TROY second and Toseland third. TROY "What a fantastic day’s racing for fans everywhere and a tremendous advert for Superbikes. Both races were action-packed and the pace never let up. It was great to be involved in both of them and, although I didn’t get a win, it was awesome being in contention right to the end. Fortunately the weather was good and the fans were able to see what Superbikes is all about. "I’m very happy to take the two podiums, for myself and the whole Alstare team. They’ve supported me so well these past two years and, without their support and the support from Francis and Patricia Batta I could not have given them and Suzuki their first world superbike title. It’s been a great couple of years and great to finish in style. I am now looking forward to my new challenge - but don’t worry, I’m staying in world superbikes. "Wish me luck. "Se ya." Troy
