Race 1:
Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Karl Muggeridge moved up in to second
place on lap one after an average start, however the race got
red flagged because of oil on the track before the lap was even
completed.
The second time around Muggas start was a fair bit better but
and he was running in 4th position for a while until he got
passed into the hairpin a couple of times and the pushed too
hard to catch back up and lost the front into the second corner,
a place where he expected it the least.
Muggas comments: “I got a pretty good start but then the race
got red flagged so we had to restart again. The second time
around wasn’t that flash but I was still running in 4th until I
got some hard passes put on and got gapped a bit. I tried really
hard to catch them back, probably a bit too hard and lost the
front. I’m very disappointed about the way that ended”
Race 2:
In the second race here at Magny Cours and the final one of the
2006 World Superbike Championship Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Karl
Muggeridge finished in 6th place after another good start of the
race.
Muggas was holding 4th for a good while till he lost his breath
after a hard pass and couldn’t keep up with the leader group. He
was pretty angry at that moment as it’s been looking good for
the Australian to hang in there and finally get his first World
Superbike Podium, however it wasn’t ment to be.
Karl Muggeridge comments: “I had a pretty good start again and
was happy and comfortable to run with the front group, then
Bayliss barged his way through and I tried to pass him back the
next corner but he closed in on me and fully chopped the front
of my bike off, so I hit the tank really hard with the family
jewels and lost the breath. I lost too much time and it was
impossible to catch back up to the guys so after what happened
in race one I decided to be happy with fifth but then Andrew
Pitt got passed me, which wouldn’t have been a problem he didn’t
get away and I could have easy passed him back if the CBR1000
didn’t start running out of fuel the last couple of laps and so
I didn’t have enough power lap.”
World Champion Troy Bayliss took the victory in front of fellow
Aussie Troy Corser and Winston’s James Toseland who took second
place in the Championship.
