Bad surprise today for WSBK circus at Valencia, with hard rain showers in the early morning. Luckily later a quite strong wind partially dried the track and the practices have been rode without rain, also if the track wasn’t in the best condition. Despite that difficulties Roberto Rolfo has been one of a few riders able to improve his yesterday’s performance, being successful to be allowed to contest the Superpole session. Later during the afternoon the track temperature increases and the handling of SC Caracchi 999F05 Ducati changes, so in Superpole Roby wasn’t too brilliant, catching however another grid position. “Today I’m surely more satisfied as yesterday.” – has been the final comment by Roberto Rolfo. – “In the second qualifying session in the morning I found a good feeling and that gave me more determination, because I was able to ride managing in a better way the fantastic power of my bike, always very fast. During the afternoon, on the contrary, I’ve been slower because when the track temperature increases I found more difficulties, the bike is very sliding, quite funny to drive, but not good for the time result. In Superpole I was thinking to get a better result, but I’ve done a mistake because the bike did move too much and at the end I’ve lost some tenth of second. Of course the final result couldn’t change too much, but I believe that I could improve my morning’s lap time. Well, looking at all I’m quite happy for the work done today, first of all after yesterday’s troubles. In race setting conditions the bike is OK, for tomorrow’s races will be important to be focused and have a good start and I’m sure to get a good result, also because on this track I found always some difficult and I would cancel this curse.” Fifth row start for Joshua Brookes at the end of qualifying, but the talented Australian rider is starting to have some feeling with his very fast 749R, also if he’s still far away from the leaders. “Despite the start position I’m quite happy.” – said at the end Brookes – “Working very close with the team I finally started to have a better feeling with this demanding bike. I’m not still able to ride as I like, but I’m more satisfied. In the morning session, on a quite wet track, I’ve been in the top five, then when the track in the afternoon became dry the gap with the leaders increased. We still have a lot to work, but tomorrow I’ll fight hard; and if the track could be wet I’m sure to fight with the fastest.” Luka Nedog increased today his performance, also if the rain did not help him. The young Slovenian too is confident to improve once more tomorrow during the race, whit as main goal to finish the race under the chequered flag.
“The rain in the morning has been
a bad obstacle.” – commented at the end of qualifying Luka Nedog
– “However I’ve been able to improve my lap time, also if my
sensibility with the front is still uncertain. For the race I
couldn’t get a great result, but I’ll try to remember all I
learned today and get some position in the final placing.” |
