Troy rode two of the hardest races of his life at Monza today, but still failed to take the winner’s laurels. In the first race, he was hampered by brake problems, but stuck to his task and somehow brought his bike home in third place behind Troy Bayliss (Ducati) and Alex Barros (Honda). In race two, he and his fellow countryman Bayliss had a tremendous battle for the lead for most of the 18-lapper, but towards the end, Bayliss put in a storming lap and managed to pull out a small gap. Troy tried his hardest to get back, but Bayliss had done enough . Troy took second, with Haga (Yamaha) third.

TROY - Race 1: 3rd, Race 2: 2nd - "It’s impossible for me to feel really disappointed today because I know that I rode as hard as I could in both races. In the end, all I can do is my best and that’s what I did. The front brake was behaving inconsistently in the first race and sometimes it would work OK and sometimes it would come nearly all the way back to the lever, which made my life pretty interesting! I nearly crashed twice , so I reckon it was pretty good to even get on the podium. The second race was a straightforward battle between me and Bayliss after we had got rid of Haga. There’s very little difference in his Ducati and my Suzuki. We’ve probably got a couple of k’s at the top end, but his traction control works so well he can gas the bike hard even when he’s leant over. If I tried that, I’d be in the air and then in the gravel! For sure his Ducati can accelerate out of the turns better than my bike, and that is a big advantage. To ride as hard as I did today and not win is a bit frustrating, but honestly I just could not have done any more. We’ll see what we can come up for Silverstone.
Se ya,
Troy"
