Winston Ten Kate Honda’s Karl Muggeridge qualified on the provisional 22nd place in this afternoons qualifying session at round four of the World Superbike Championship here at Monza Autodromo in Italy.

Muggas who returned after only six weeks break to the race track for the first time after his heavy fall in the Valencia Superbike test where he fractured two vertebra’s in his lower back was happy to be back on his CBR 1000 and got some good laps in the morning free practice session where he was 8th quickest.

However with this afternoon’s rain, Muggeridge was just not confident enough to lap the patchy 5793 meters in the Monza Autodromo on a hot pace as he didn’t wanna risk a fall. Hopefully the weather will turn his way tomorrow and give him another chance to qualify for the afternoon’s Superpole session.

Muggas comments: “It’s good to be back on the bike here at one of my favourite circuits. I feel really good and have absolutely no pain anymore and gained full flexibility back. The morning session wasn’t too bad and I was hoping to ease steady back into the race pace in the afternoon; however the few sprinkles that left the track wet in some place made it difficult for me and I just didn’t had the confidence to commit everything as the last thing I wanted would be another fall, specially on this fast track. But there’s still a chance tomorrow, it’s not over yet.”
