Broc Parkes blasted away from the line to lead the way while four riders skittled off into the kitty litter at the first turn. Parkes had his head down from the get go and had a few bike lengths over Sofuoglu and Curtain but early on lap two that pair closed back up on Parkes to make it clear that he was not going to get away. Kevin Curtain made it a Yamaha 1-2 early on lap three. Kevin Curtain was all over the back of Broc Parkes on lap five and it looked as though he was going to take the lead as Broc was sliding his R6 more than looked comfortable. But Sofuoglu then surprised Curtain and stole second place but Curtain came right back at him a few turns later. That scare was enough for Curtain to get a little more eager to get past his team-mate and he did exactly that at turn one on lap seven of the 18 lap race. The Yamaha men both looking quite untidy, Broc more so than Kevin, but in contrast Sofuoglu on the Ten Kate Honda looked virtually on rails and doing things much easier but the Australians looked to have the skill to better him. Parkes lost the front and nearly fell off the bike on lap eight but luckily the Pirelli decided to hook up again and allow him to continue on his merry way. It looked gone for all money. As the race passed the halfway mark the leading trio had 2.5 seconds over the next closest pursuer, Tiberio on the Megabike Honda who was running good laptimes on his lonesome. Curtain redoubled his efforts to break away in the closing laps and with two to run had stretched his lead out to over a second and Broc had a similar gap over third placed Sofuoglu as they started the last lap. Curtain went on to take his first win of the season ahead of Parkes and Sofuoglu. The injured Sebastien Charpentier battled his way home to 11th place to salvage some points. Curtain's win has now closed him to within ten points of the Frenchman while Broc is still in the hunt also some 17 points behind his team-mate.
