Broc Parkes capitalised on his pole position to lead the field away but his team-mate Kevin Curtain got swamped in the first corners and was pushed down to around eighth position. Charpentier was quickly up in second place with team-mate Sofuoglu looking strong also.  It took Curtain four laps to move up to fourth position but he had his work cut out for him to close on the leading trio but on lap five Curtain declared his intentions by putting in a new fastest lap of the race as he tried to chase them down.

Curtain put in some more fastest laps to close up to the leading trio and by the halfway stage of the race was right in the hunt up front in a four rider group that left the rest of the field in their wake.

As the race entered its second half Parkes began to pull away from his pursuers. It took Curtain until lap 15 to get the better of Charpentier and the Australian veteran then put his head down in an effort to chase down Sofuoglu and left Charpentier in his wake.

Curtain was right on Sofuoglu's tail with five laps to run but Broc Parkes looked safe out in front with a three second buffer over his pursuers.  Second place was still up for grabs though and Curtain was all over Sofuoglu in the hunt for second place. Charpentier couldn't maintain their pace as the Frenchman continues to recover his fitness after that testing crash a couple of months ago.

Curtain got Sofuoglu on lap 20 but the youngster came right back at him. A lap later Curtain made that second place his own. On the final lap Charpentier came under attack from Robin Harms and Cal Crutchlow and that pair pushed him back to sixth place in the final corners and the Frenchman showed his disgust and disappointment as he crossed the line.
