Only ten days to the World Supers! Are you ready?
Just ten days till the opening round of the Superbike World Championships at spectacular Phillip Island from February 27 to March 1, 2009..so while Aussie riders Troy Corser, Broc Parkes, Karl Muggeridge and Brendan Roberts are counting down to the championship kick off, here’s a couple of updates for Aussie bike fans….
NEW SUPERSCREEN AT DOOHAN CORNER BRINGS SUPERBIKE SUPERSCREENS TO SIX
Our ticket sales are soaring, so the circuit has installed an extra superscreen at the spectacular Doohan Corner to make sure every fan gets a great view of the action. Here’s the six hot spots…
Gardner Straight North – outfield near expo
Control Tower – infield opposite Bar SBK
Gardner Straight South – infield opposite the motorcycle manufacturer clubs
Siberia – infield opposite Bar SBK
Lukey Heights – infield opposite Bar SBK
Doohan Corner – infield opposite Bar SBK
The new superscreen at Doohan Corner is at one of the hottest points on the circuit. So if you set up camp for the day at the end of Gardner Straight, you will not only enjoy a spectacular view of the circuit through to Siberia but also be able to catch every single second of racing action on the superscreen.
FOUR BAR SBKs for 2009
Our Bar SBKs have been so popular that we have installed another facility at the end of Gardner Straight, smack bang in front of the new Superscreen and with great views from turn one to Southern Loop and out back to Siberia. Your Bar SBK ticket will also enable you to move around the circuit and enjoy viewing areas at prime locations – the other three Bar SBK’s being at Siberia, Lukey heights and Gardner Straight.
Each of the four Bar SBKs features an undercover structure that protects you from the elements – whether it is hot or cold – and they are all licensed facilities so you can always buy a drink.
CAMPING SPOTS
Attention all superbike revelers…If you want to camp, it’s advisable to book online or you can roll in any night as late as 10.00 p.m. (providing there are camping spots still free).
The trackside campground is perfectly placed with views second to none and the thrill of being only a stone’s throw from the famous Southern Loop. Enjoy the atmosphere, pitch your tent and make the circuit home for a few days.
Camping facilities include licensed bars, a general store, toilets, showers and take away food outlets and the Visitor Centre café for meals.
The best news is that there’s no travelling to and from the circuit each day . You’re literally sleeping trackside, to be woken each morning to the tune of revving engines after enjoying a night of rock n’ roll with your friends last evening.
PARTY ON
If you’re camping, the action does not stop at sunset. Come 7.30pm, the party starts with Friday night’s guest band Wild Turkey; Saturday night features Urban Assault on stage and Sunday night , Jack Hammer entertains the campground to make sure everyone’s weekend ends on a high!
ON YER BIKE..
Don’t forget the world superbike championship is for everyone and anyone who loves bikes. You can ride your bike, right into the circuit precinct travelling though the outfield to your favourite viewing location. Then pull up, get comfortable and enjoy all the action from the two wheel kamikazes right in front of you.
If you are coming by car, parking is free and available at Lukey Heights or adjacent to Gardner Straight near gate 7.
