Speedway stars get onboard with Suzuki for Christmas
Two of Australia’s top speedway stars have taken delivery of new 2011 SUZUKI RMZ250s from Newcastle SUZUKI dealer and Australian Speedway Championship Promoter Graeme Boyd.
Dual World Under 21 champion Darcy Ward was the first of the purchasers and Boyd joked “I have paid Darcy a fair amount of prize money over the past few years, so it is good to get a little of it back”.
But knowing the form that Ward has shown throughout a superb 2010 season Boyd added “I am sure he will win a fair bit more back from me at Kurri Kurri Speedway on January 15 when the new venue hosts the second round of the 2011 Australian Solo Championship.”
Darcy has decided to use the RMZ for fitness cross training and maybe a few club MX races.
Ward sounded so excited when he told current British Speedway Grand Prix winner Chris Holder about the bike that Holder then hit Boyd up for a deal as well and three days later Appin based Chris and his fellow speedway racing brother James took delivery of their new 2011 RMZ250s as well.
While Ward and Holder have developed a strong friendship riding for the Poole Pirates in the British Elite League their on-track rivalry is fierce.
Boyd said “With Chris winning two Australian Solo Championships and being favourite for the upcoming series he will be determined not to let Darcy catch him, so I’d expect Chris to put the new RMZ to good use as he prepares for the title showdown.
Both Holder and Ward rode dirt track in their junior days so the bikes should get both motocross and sliding practice.
