Tough night for Crump at Speedway GP season opener
Three-time Speedway World Champion Jason Crump has opened his assault on the World Championship with a disappointing result after collecting just 5 points on the night from the European Grand Prix at Lezno in Poland.
Crump’s first ride produced an outstanding win on the very fast and slick track, backed up with a second place in his next ride, but minor mechanical issues and some wrong setup choices saw him pointless for the remainder of the meeting.
Acknowledging he had an off night, Crump said there were no excuses.
“It just wasn’t a good day, the bottom line is I rode badly and didn’t do much right tonight,” Crump admitted.
“We went through practice on Friday and I was happy with the setup and that showed in my first two rides, but as the track conditions changed I made some wrong choices and that showed in my results, but that’s Speedway, it can be very rewarding one day and abysmal the next. I will put tonight behind me and start preparing for my next challenge in Sweden in two weeks time.”
