Bimota gets dirty with BX450 Enduro model now available to the public in Italy

bimota has unveiled the BX450, marking the Italian marque’s first move into the enduro segment with a model based on Kawasaki’s KX450X platform and developed through recent off-road competition in Italy.

Bimota BX450

While bimota is best known for its road and racing machinery, the BX450 signals a move into a new category for the Rimini manufacturer. The machine is powered by a 449 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with DOHC valve actuation, a 96.0 x 62.1 mm bore and stroke, 12.5:1 compression ratio and fuel injection. Ignition is via a digital DC-CDI system, while lubrication is handled by a semi-dry sump arrangement.

The BX450 runs a five-speed constant mesh transmission with return shift, wet multi-disc clutch and chain final drive, with a 3.642 final reduction ratio via 14/51 gearing.

Fuel tank capacity: 10.7 L

Chassis design centres around a tubular semi-double cradle frame paired with a 49 mm upside-down telescopic fork and Uni-Trak rear suspension. Suspension travel is listed at 305 mm up front and 307 mm at the rear, underlining the model’s competition focus.

Wheel and tyre fitment is also aimed squarely at enduro competition, with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination shod in Metzeler Six Days rubber. Up front is a 90/100-21 57M Metzeler Six Days MST Super Soft, while the rear uses a 140/80-18 70M Metzeler Six Days M+S Medium.

10 levels of traction control and launch control through the handlebar-mounted SX1 controller.

bimota says the BX450 also receives an Athena GET ECU with enduro-specific fuel-injection settings, giving riders access to two race maps, 10 levels of traction control and launch control through the handlebar-mounted SX1 controller. Additional tuning and diagnostic capability is available through an optional controller.

110 kg with all fluids expect fuel

Other competition-focused components include an Akrapovic titanium silencer, while fuel capacity is listed at 10.7 litres in standard form. bimota has also referenced the availability of a smaller 6.2-litre tank option, allowing riders to tailor range and weight to suit different events and terrain.

Bimota BX450

The project is not entirely new, with bimota already having campaigned the BX450 in Italian domestic competition. The company points to success in Motorally and Raid TT competitions, including a 2024 Italian Raid TT title, as the basis for now making the model available through selected European dealers.

Bimota BX450

Pierluigi Marconi, COO of bimota, said the move into enduro reflected the company’s broader competition mindset.

Pierluigi Marconi – COO of bimota

“For us, racing isn’t a category but it’s our essence. When we look at our enduro bike we don’t see something completely new, we see a new challenge. Entering the world of enduro wasn’t a strategy for us it was simply following our DNA. This isn’t a toy, it’s a real racing bike. To underpin that statement, in 2024, we were the overall winners in the Italian RaidTT classification. The development of the BX450 followed a proven logic where design and testing intersect many times before reaching production. Yes enduro is a new field for bimota but competition isn’t. We’re ready for the next step. Now it’s time to go racing.”

Bimota BX450

There is currently no indication as to when, or if, the BX450 will come to Australia.
