Swann ASC-FX recaps 2014 media coverage – A statement from the promoters

So far this year the newly named Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Series has wowed crowds, online fans, spectators, privateers and factory teams alike.

With the biggest names in the business taking part in the nationally televised restructured championship, it is no surprise that in 2014 the series has recorded some of the most impressive results in Australian road racing’s history.

With decent sized crowds once again pouring through the gates over the five rounds that the series has already held this year, the FX based Swann Superbike Series has proven that motorcycle road racing is still alive and well in Australia and has a very bright future.

Spectators have turned out this year in their droves to witness the close and exciting battles that have been a regular feature at some of the greatest venues across the country and the action is set to continue in 2015.

As well as the swell in spectator numbers at the track, 2014 has seen the Swann Superbike Series step up media coverage across the board, and take delivering the action to a whole new level.

Each and every round has been exclusively live streamed via MotorsportsTV with more than 30,000 views of the posted videos online so far.

In addition to the live online coverage of every race in 2014, the series has also provided eighteen spectacular hours of coverage, of nationally shown free to air television via Australia’s longest running and most popular motorsport show Speedweek which airs nationally on SBS on Sunday afternoons.

Figures to date from SBS show that the Speedweek television viewing audience has been enormous this year, with over 4,090,000 viewers tuning in to watch the Swann Superbike Championship one-hour shows.

Add in the average viewer numbers per Speedweek show and by the end of the season it is expected roughly another 1.4 million or so viewers will have watched the great motorcycle racing action on SBS.

Put all this together, and by the end of the last of the 18 hours of the ASC shown on SBS, the viewer numbers will more than likely total a cumulative reach of around 5.5 million viewers for the 2014 series.

And with the soon to be released Fox TV viewer numbers from the 18 hours of Swann Superbike Championship coverage on Fox SPEED TV and the Live Streaming numbers, chances are domestic motorcycle road racing in this country has never had such a large audience in one year.

With such a successful year already in the books and the considerable growth over the last three years, 2015 is looking to be yet another groundbreaking year for Australia’s highest profile professionally run series.

The 2015 provisional calendar, released recently will see the championship increase to seven rounds, and will revisit some of Australia’s favorite race tracks, plus with the extra televised round for the 2015 championship season, one can expect a proportionally larger television audience that will be aimed at benefiting all stakeholders. This includes the many viewers who enjoy watching the racing on TV, privateers, teams, the privateers sponsors and of course the Series sponsors.

Included in next years schedule will be Sydney Motorsport Park, where the final epic round for 2014 will be staged in just over two short weeks.

With the grand finale just around the corner, the Swann Superbike Series is set to finish off 2014 with a bang.

Make sure you stay tuned to the FX Superbike Facebook page, or head to www.fxsuperbikes.com.au to stay in the loop with all your road racing updates.

ARTRP the Australasian Superbike Championship promoter invites all series competitors to email us to get an information package, which is being put together at present with more details on the free to air viewer numbers.
