Throup wins SA 24 Hour
In the hands of Sean Throup and prepared by the crew at Yamaha Motor South Australia, the Yamaha WR450F legend continued to grow with another win at the gruelling South Australia 24 Hour event.
Battling the most competitive field in some time, rain, cold, darkness and fatigue, Throup had a relatively smooth run during the event and was crowned the winner when official results came through recently. Apart from some blinker and collateral damage from racing through the night and mud at eye whitening speed, the WR450F more than stood the test and finished the event with ease.
“It was pretty tough out there,” Throup said. “The rain obviously made it quite muddy and that makes reading the dirt and terrain through the night difficult. It was also bloody cold,” He stated.
“But all up it was good fun and my bike was perfect thanks to the CDT Yamaha team.”
Three of the top five finishers were WR450F mounted with Rowan Pumpa in third and Luke Arbon in fourth.
“It was a great event for the Yamaha guys and the WR450F,” said SA Yamaha Manager, Rob Baumann. “The bikes ran well all weekend and there was minimal damage apart from the usual battle scars in an event like this. The City Discount Tyres Yamaha team performed very well and every rider on the team finished the event.
“It is a credit to the riders, the WR450F and the CDT Yamaha team to have so many of our guys inside the top five. Many of them commented on it being the toughest race in years so it really put everyone involved to the test. I congratulate everyone on a huge effort and hope next year we have the podium full of Yamaha’s.
