ASBK 2026
Round Two – SMSP – SW-Motech Superbike
Josh Waters came into the second Australian Superbike encounter at Sydney Motorsport Park with renewed momentum after delivering a champion’s response in Saturday’s opening bout. The defending champion converted Friday-night pole into victory in the 13-lap first race, holding firm under pressure from Cru Halliday and Jonathan Nahlous to reassert himself at the front of the conversation. Harrison Voight had shown strong early speed to lead the opening stages before slipping back to fourth, while Jacob Roulstone again underlined his consistency with a solid top-five finish.

That opening result set the scene for the second and final Superbike showdown of the weekend. Waters had struck first, but Halliday and Nahlous both showed they had the pace to challenge him. Voight was keen to turn his speed into a stronger finish, and Roulstone remained close enough to capitalise if the fight at the front became another multi-rider scrap. With the leading contenders all capable of running in the low 1m29s in race one, the stage was set for another intense contest under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Superbike Race Two
The Superbike field rolled into position at 2105 on Saturday night for the second and final 13-lap contest of round two, and it was Harrison Voight who emerged from the opening turns in control.

Josh Waters launched strongly off the line, but Voight held the preferred line through turn one to lead the field through the opening sequence ahead of Waters and Jonathan Nahlous. Nahlous wasted no time making his intentions clear, slipping underneath Waters at turn five to move into second and immediately taking the fight to Voight.

The leading trio were all quick from the outset, each lapping in the 1m34s from a standing start on lap one. Cru Halliday settled into fourth ahead of Cam Dunker and Jacob Roulstone, while the pace at the front quickly lifted another notch once the field got into its stride.

Voight’s first flying lap, a 1m29.067, was only marginally quicker than Nahlous’s 1m29.159 as the two young guns began to edge away from Waters. By lap three, Nahlous had responded with a 1m29.040, slightly quicker than Voight’s 1m29.075, and only a handful of bike lengths separated the pair.

Any prospect of a sustained challenge for victory ended on lap four, however, when Nahlous crashed at turn 11. That left Voight clear at the front with a 1.6-second advantage over Waters, while continuing to reel off laps in the low 1m29s.
Halliday inherited third to make it a Ducati 1-2-3, the Stop & Seal rider holding a 1.6-second margin over Roulstone on the Honda. Glenn Allerton and Dunker were close behind, and as the race approached half-distance, the battle for fourth was shaping as the main action on track.

Allerton made his first move on lap eight, sneaking underneath Roulstone at turn two after the youngster ran wide on entry. Roulstone responded immediately to reclaim fourth on the following lap, but the pressure did not ease. Dunker and Anthony West had joined the contest, with Mike Jones also beginning to edge into the picture as the closing stages approached.

Up front, though, Voight remained untouchable. With four laps to run, Voight led team-mate Waters by 2.5 seconds, while Halliday was another 3.5 seconds further back in third and comfortably clear of the scrap over fourth.

That fight intensified dramatically over the final two laps. Allerton again found a way past Roulstone on the penultimate lap, only to run slightly wide and surrender the place once more. The pair continued to exchange positions over the next few corners, with West joining the fray at the last-lap board. West moved into fifth, then Allerton fought back around the rear of the circuit, only for the order to keep changing corner by corner. Dunker then inserted himself into the battle as well, turning it into a frantic multi-rider contest to the flag.

The ferocity of that scrap ultimately worked in Roulstone’s favour, giving him just enough breathing space to secure fourth place in a hard-fought finish.

Out front, Voight was unaffected by any of the chaos unfolding behind him. The teenager rode to an emphatic four-second victory over Waters, with Halliday a further four seconds adrift in third.

Second place was enough for Waters to secure the overall round win when combined with his pole-position point and victory in race one. Voight finished second for the round on 42 points, while Halliday completed an all-Ducati round podium in third.

Voight will take a 14-point lead over Waters to The Bend, but Jacob Roulstone is still right in the championship mix as the Honda rider is only a single point behind Waters heading into round three.
