Procon Maxima BMW pilot Glenn Allerton used the new BMW HP4 to good effect in this morning’s opening ASBK practice session at Symmons Plains, Tasmania.
On a cold track and underneath a cloudy sky Allerton set the early pace with a 54.763.
Second was new Team Suzuki rider Wayne Maxwell with a 55.111 on the GSX-R1000 ahead of the similarly equipped Chas Hern who impressed with a 55.125.
Team Honda’s Jamie Stauffer was fourth quickest with a 55.447 to head Robert Bugden’s 56.079.
Linden Magee punted his BMW around to a best time of 56.140 in the 20-minute session pushing Suzuki mounted Ben Henry (56.313) back to seventh place.
Superbike debutante Josh Hook put the Team Honda Fireblade into eighth place with a 56.714, just besting Glenn Scott (56.984) on the Insuremyride Fireblade.
Beau Beaton recovered from a front brake problem that pitched him over the bars at low speed on his first lap out to record a 57.100 and round out the top ten.
