Harley-Davidson release first details of MY 2015

Off the back of  recent Project Rushmore developments, and coming hot on the heels of the  Street™ 500 and the electric buzz of Project LiveWire, Harley-Davidson is starting to announce their model line-up.

With aerodynamic improvements and exhilarating audio performance to dialled-in ergonomic fit, Harley-Davidson is expanding its diverse offering of motorcycles.

Infused with DNA from the brand’s customer-led product development effort, Project Rushmore, the sleek, shark-nose Touring model was revealed in the U.S during special events at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota and the National Bikers Roundup (NBR) in Tulsa, Okla.

“Road Glide has always had an incredibly passionate following, which is why its return to the model line-up is exciting for our customers and our company,” said Matt Levatich, President and Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “With Project RUSHMORE technology, intuitive features and great new styling, we’re delivering an improved ride for the Road Glide faithful and the many others looking for more cool Project RUSHMORE motorcycle options.”

New contours of the famous Road Glide fairing highlight that past form and convention were put aside for the 2015 design as the model returns to the Harley-Davidson product range in its all-new form. Featuring innovative Dual Reflector Daymaker™ LED headlights and hand-adjustable low-profile rear suspension, the Road Glide Special sets out to make the ultimate statement in custom, high-mile touring and backs it up with all the function riders demand.

Shaped by countless hours of wind tunnel testing, the new frame-mounted Road Glide Special features a triple Splitstream fairing that significantly reduces head buffeting while still providing comfortable airflow around the rider.

Providing safety and visibility, the brilliant white beams of the Dual Daymaker Reflector LED headlamp blast through the darkest of nights.

Centred in the inner fairing is the premium Boom!™ Box 6.5GT infotainment system with touch screen and GPS navigation which can also be controlled by twin joysticks located on a new swept-back handlebar.

Abundant torque on tap from the twist of the throttle comes from a High Output Twin Cam 103™ V-Twin engine that burbles through two chrome mufflers.

Touring features include One-Touch hard saddlebags, cruise control and easy-to-read gauges. For extra ride confidence the Road Glide Special features Reflex™ Linked Brakes with ABS and an exclusive painted inner fairing and hand-applied pinstriping move the styling up a notch.

The new model will then start arriving at authorised Harley-Davidson dealerships in Australia from October 2014.

Harley-Davidson 2015 Street Glide Special

As part of its 2015 model line-up, Harley-Davidson has announced the latest instalment to its Street Glide Touring Family, with the brand new Street Glide Special model making its much anticipated debut in Australia and New Zealand.

Project Rushmore provides  the Street Glide Special with its High Output 103 engine, low profile air ride suspension, wind tunnel tested Batwing fairing, dual halogen lights and intelligently organised controls.

Street Glide Special also scores the upgraded infotainment system to the latest Boom™ 6.5GT audio system, complete with GPS and touchscreen – a full colour screen that displays all the information in front of you bigger and clearer than ever. Features include voice recognition for hands free operation of your mobile phone, Bluetooth, modern graphics, colours you can dial in and auto and manual dim.

The Street Glide Special also includes factory pin-striping and a painted inner fairing. The engine is black powder coated with chrome covers, while its Batwing fairing has a smoked sport windscreen and boasts electronically linked ABS for total comfort and safety.

“One ride on the Street Glide Special motorcycle is all it takes to understand why this has become one of the top-selling motorcycles in the world,” said Adam Wright, Director of Marketing Harley-Davidson Australia. “And now, with all the latest updates and Project Rushmore technology, the form, function and style are even stronger, delivering an improved ride for the Street Glide faithful and an exciting alternative for the many others looking for more customisable touring options.”

The Street Glide Special represents the ideal model for those who want to join the ranks of the custom baggers. It lends itself perfectly for customisation due to its versatile, street cool to grand touring styling with a 22.7 litre fuel tank ensuring interruptions to your cruising are as infrequent as possible.

With an ultra-low 695mm seat height and a prodigious 138Nm of torque at a lowly 3500rpm from the smooth-running 1690cc v-twin the 356kg Street Glide Special is made for effortless back-road or highway cruising. Rolling on a 19″ front and 16″ rear the Street Glide Special will be available in a colour range as follows:  Vivid Black; Brilliant Silver Pearl; Amber Whiskey; Charcoal Pearl; Morocco Gold Pearl; Black Denim; Deep Jade Pearl

New Softail® Braking System

An all-new braking system for Softail models delivers improved modulation and responsiveness and decreases hand lever effort by 40 per cent. Anti-lock Braking System is now standard on all Softail models. New front brake components include a rigid four-piston fixed front brake caliper, 34 and 32mm pistons coated to minimise initial displacement, brake pads with high-output friction material, a new master cylinder with a higher mechanical ratio, and a new 300mm front brake rotor. The caliper and master cylinder have been restyled to enhance the looks of each model.

Top it off with an intricate paint scheme and the added exclusivity of four colour options.
