Kawasaki 1400GTR being evaluated by AFP and NSW Police
Various Australian Police forces including the Australian Federal Police and the NSW Police Force are currently evaluating the Kawasaki 1400GTR motorcycle for their daily motorcycle related law enforcement duties.
Introduced to the world for the 2008 model year, the Kawasaki 1400GTR quickly endeared itself to the motorcycle touring population winning numerous awards in recent years including MOTY accolades in USA publications Motorcyclist, Cycleworld and Rider magazines.
Owing to its generous storage space, tight turning circle, light steering at slow speeds and a class leading shaft driven 1352cm3 in-line 4cyclinder engine with variable valve timing, Kawasaki claim the 1400GTR is a perfect platform for Police motorcycle requirements. It is currently in active use by numerous Police forces around the world including Europe and the USA where a dedicated police force model is available for special order through Kawasaki dealerships.
Kawasaki is pleased that Australian Police forces are following suit by evaluating the 1400GTR for active use with high level testing already being undertaken by the AFP and the NSW Police force.
NB: We note that Harley-Davidson machines are also being evaluated in NSW for Police duties.
