MV Agusta reveal F3 800
— By Trevor Hedge
MV Agusta have pulled the covers off their eagerly awaited MV F3 800.
Powered by a new 798cc triple-cylinder engine boasting 148hp at 13,000rpm and 88Nm of torque at 10,6000rpm while offering the same 173kg dry weight of the current F3 675, the new MV F3 800 promises excellent performance.
The capacity hike has been achieved by an increase in stroke from the 675s 45.9mm to 54.3mm. Despite the increase in stroke the MV F3 800’s rev-limiter does not intervene until 13,500rpm. Excessive revs during downshifts are avoided by the standard mechanical slipper clutch.
The now obligatory DOHC layout is retained with four titanium valves per cylinder and carries over the counter-rotating crankshaft layout of the F3 675.
MV Agusta claim a 269km/h top speed for the F3 800.
The often maligned in early iterations but now reportedly fairly well sorted MVICS ride-by-wire system is carried over to the F3 800 but with of course larger capacity injectors than found on the F3 675. An eight-level traction control system is also a standard feature.
A new high-end front brake system compromising Brembo Monobloc (M4.34a) calipers helps stand the F3 800 on its nose.
Marzocchi provide the 43mm fully-adjustable forks while Sachs supply the similarly adjustable shock.
The F3 800 will be released in three colour combinations:
– Pearl white/black
– Red/silver
– Matt metallic black
