Further Australasian FX Superbike Championship Summer Series Details Announced!
The upcoming three round Summer AFXSBK Championship Day/night Summer Series will see a number of changes that are aimed to improve the spectacle of the event not only for TV but also for live spectators while also lowering costs for competitors.
The Summer Series will be run as one day events with the Eastern Creek first round and the Winton Raceway series finale being run on Saturday as day / night events with a estimated finishing time of approximately 8:00 pm.
The second Wakefield round will be run as a normal Sunday day time event for 2010 but changing to a day/nighter for 2011.
The same classes that have competed in the AFXC will all compete in the Summer Series, some with name changes though.
The only new class to be introduced for the AFXSBK will be a Motard based class for 450 and up to 600 cc bikes which will be named SuperMono and be given Australian Championship status.
To keep the costs down for all competitors there will be unofficial practise day the day before each of the rounds that competitors can chose to go to if they want to.
Everyone is already aware that the premier class in the winter AFXC series is the FX1000 class. For the Summer Series FX1000 will now compete on slicks and adopt the name of the Summer series being FX Superbike for the three round racing extravaganza.
The newly named premier class FX Superbike will move to control Dunlop slick tyres.
In another cost reducing exercise the FX Superbike competitors will be restricted to one set of medium compound slicks per round not only for the four shorter then normal races per round but also for the one qualifying session. There will be only one size rear tyre and one compound for the FX Superbikes, both fronts and rears will be medium compound and the rear will only be allowed in the 200 section size.
These changes to the event format making them one day only race meetings and the reduction and change to slicks for the FX Superbike class will see sizeable reductions in costs for competitors.
The AFXC’s FX Pro-Twins championship class for the Summer Series will also get a new name that being Pro-Thunder. The formula’s in Pro-Thunder will remain the same as Pro-Twins and no rules will be changed. That will also be the same for the FX Superbikes’, apart from a shift to control slicks the rules will remain the same as the 2010 FX1000 class rules.
Lights can be fitted to all of the ADR complied FX classes but are not mandatory.
With racing finishing around the 8:00pm time there will still be plenty of daylight to run all the races.
There will be a number of other important announcements to be released over the next week or two that will build towards the renaissance of Summer motorcycle racing in Australia with the twist of it also being day/night racing for the first time. Competitor Invitation
Thank you for taking the time to look at this invitation to compete depending on your age in either the 2010 Junior Australasian MX Championship or the 2010 Australasian MX Championship. For everyone’s information Sundays AMX Championship will be televised nationally on SBS Speedweek and on FOX’s SPEED channel over four x 30 minute TV shows repeated on both channels over the summer period. This we are told is the first time in many years an Australian MX race meeting has received massive national Free to Air and or Pay TV on such a scale.
These are, we don’t mind admitting, our first motocross race meetings however we do bring a high level of expertise in managing and promoting motorcycle racing championship, on top of that we have been lucky enough the secure the services of an excellent set of MX officials with a great track record in running top notch MX’s. We ourselves have a long history of successfully promoting nationally televised road racing events over fifteen years in Australia. We are looking forward to watching these two events grow in coming years and the concept of one big weekend of both road and MX racing we believe will become very popular. These two MX championships will be run in conjunction with the series final of the 2010 FX-Superbike Championship which is also being run at the same venue on the Saturday afternoon / evening.
Both of these championships are one day, one round championships, both will take place at Winton International Raceway in northern Victoria. The Junior championship on the newly rebuilt 1 km circuit will be run and won on the Saturday and Senior championship on the massively changed 1.5 km circuit on the Sunday.
There is a massive amount of camping available in the adjoining unpowered campsite that can accommodate over two thousand people. Camping will primarily be for the Saturday night and fee’s will apply but the fees will also provide GA entrance to the FX-Superbike championship finale on the Saturday afternoon / evening and the Sunday Senior championship if you are a junior. There are many more details in the accompanying AMXC Sup Regs.
We believe there are quite a few competitors out there that no longer have a MA Comp licence but would like to race in these championships. For those who have previously raced and held a MA comp license you can automatically apply for a National AASA MX competition license for the sum of only $130. This amount will not just be for 12 months but for a full 18 months from the day you apply. So the AASA MX comp license will allow you to compete in this and next year’s 2011 AMX Championship as well for the one fee. If you have a current MA National license then that is fine to as the AASA accepts and recognises MA licenses at their permitted events.
There is so much information we would like to give you right now but there is not the room in just one invitation page. We can also be contacted in business hours on 02 4823 5711 if you need a question answered. Again thank you for reading about the inaugural AMX Championships and we hope we have excited you enough to come and race with us.
Cheers,
Terry O’Neill
