Honda and Harley riders are revving their engines and rolling up their sleeves!
The Blood Service is half way through its Summer Blood challenge and already over 1000 Australian lives have been saved by motorcyclists across NSW and the ACT.
While motorcyclists have shown their generosity by rolling up their sleeves they have also been letting the Blood Service know which motorbike they ride. So far Honda and Harley are neck and neck with their riders having donated the most blood during the Motorcyclist Summer Blood Challenge.
The Summer Blood Challenge is a blood drive which asks motorcyclists across NSW and the ACT to raise awareness of the growing need for blood by rolling up their sleeves.
Speaking on behalf of the Motorcycle Council of NSW, Steve Steward said “It is a great event and shows again how motorcyclists make real and positive contributions in their own daily lives and for others around them”.
Over summer the Blood Service has to ensure there is enough blood for everyone who needs it at a time when many regular donors are enjoying a break from their usual routines. With support from motorcyclists, the Summer Blood Challenge helps the Blood Service meet the demand.
Motorcyclists across NSW and the ACT are asked to contribute to the challenge by donating blood before Monday February 28.
1 in 3 people will need blood yet currently 1 in 30 people donate. Every blood donation can save three lives.
Do something special – give blood and help save lives this summer.
