They say you’ve got to know the product you sell, so when Former World Motocross Vice Champion and General Manager of HQVA Jeff Leisk made a rare racing appearance at the annual KTM Tumbulgum Motocross, that was as good a reason as any.
Leisk decided the fast flowing natural terrain layout south east of Perth was too tantalising to pass up, and fronted up to the start line of the 40-100 years class on a Husqvarna FC 350.
Fans were excited to see the legend of Aussie motocross circulate, and both he and his new Husqvarna did not disappoint – taking three out of four holeshots on the day and winning all four motos.
Jeff Leisk: “Tumbulgum is always good fun. It’s not a full-blown motocross so there’s no crazy jumps, just fast-flowing terrain, and it was an exceptional track this year, it made it just really good fun to get out and ride.
“I’ve been doing a bit of Sprintcar racing lately which probably helped keep the pre-race nerves down and allowed me to relax a bit, and I’ve been doing a little bit of off the bike training and got the weight down a little bit too so I’m not in terrible shape.
“I’ve really enjoyed this 350 Husqvarna today – it’s a sweet machine, absolutely ideal for someone like me who doesn’t get on the bike all the time but still wants the power and handling. And it got three holeshots today as well so it’s no slouch off the line, either.
“KTM is always a major sponsor for Tumbulgum, but Husqvarna was a minor sponsor on the day and there was a trade display here to show off a few bikes, so it was also good to be able to show off the FC 350 on the track.”
