ESBK Moto4 Race One

Judd Plaisted’s weekend in the Moto4 class started out with P11 in FP3, improving to P7 in FP4, with the South Australian youngster’s top-three sector times demonstrating plenty of speed.

Qualifying looked to be going to plan with top-five pace, before a mechanical issue ended his time on track, leaving Plaisted with a twelfth-place start for race one. Judd worked his way forward to actually lead the race for a lap and a half, before crashing out.

Taking the race win and extending his standings lead was Spain’s Marcos Vinagre, with Mac MacClugage (USA) and Tomas Turetta (ITA) rounding out the top three.

ESBK SSP NG Race One

Australia was well represented in the Supersport NG and SuperStock 600 classes, which race together, with Harry Khouri, Declan Van Rosmalen, and Taiyo Aksu all competing.

Declan Van Rosmalen

Race one saw Van Rosmalen the highest Aussie finisher in 18th overall – claiming eighth in the SuperStock 600 class, with Aksu 23rd overall and 11th of the SuperStock 600 racers after getting caught up in a race incident . Khouri recorded a DNF after crashing out of the leading group on lap five.

Declan Van Rosmalen

“Well started the morning out pretty good in qualifying by dropping two seconds and qualified P9 on the grid not were we want to be but we will take it. As the race started going into T1 had to miss four riders went down in front of me, I came back onto track dead last and just had to put my head down. I was able to get my way back to P8 but definitely tomorrow is my day to redeem myself let’s see what I can do.”

Taiyo Aksu

“It was a rough qualifying, and I wasn’t able to put the lap together, but we salvaged a P6. My idea was to be aggressive off the start, and I did that, but I got t-boned at Turn 1 by an out-of-control rider. I was able to finish eleventh and my focus turned immediately to Sunday.

Harry Khouri

“Not a lot to write for today. Had my best feeling with the bike all day with a reasonable qualifying and good start to the race. Unfortunately another bad error on my part crashing out of the front group on lap five. Sorry to the team tomorrow will be better.”

The race win went to Marcos Ludena, leading by the narrowest margin, Marco Tapia, with Daniel Munoz rounding out an all-Spanish podium.

ESBK SSP NG Race Two

Khouri had a better race next time around, finishing in sixth place from an eleventh-place start. Van Rosmalen finished 21st overall for P8 of the SuperStock 600 racers. Mechanical issues ended Aksu’s day.

“P6 in today’s race starting from 11th. Not the results we wanted but it was a positive end to the weekend. A few weeks off and we will be back at my favourite track on the calendar at Navarra.”

Declan Van Rosmalen

“Second race started pretty good made it though T1 with no carnage I was really strong with that front group I wanted to be with. As the race went on with a couple of mistakes I was in a battle for P7 but just missed out by .400 but it was a good race thank you to the team for all the amazing work this weekend, now we are back in race week for JuniorGP at a new track let’s get ready for France.”

Taiyo Aksu

“I made a good start in race two and was able to make up a few positions into the first corner. I continued my aggression through the first lap making my way from seventh at the start to third at one point. Unfortunately, we had a technical problem with the engine at the end of lap one which meant I had to stop and DNF. It’s a sad end to what could have been but that’s racing and all I can do now is look forward to Navarra.”

The race win went to Marco Tapia by 0.05s over Daniel Munoz, with Marcos Ludena again making for an all-Spanish podium in third.

Leaving Round Three, Aksu sits second in the SuperStock 600 standings on 77 points, trailing Osuna Saez on 90, while Van Rosmalen is fourth on 51 points, behind Navarro (70).
