What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the ignition lock cylinder may experience premature wear caused by vibration. If this occurs, it could result in loss of electrical systems or motive power whilst riding.
What are the hazards?
A loss of motive power while riding or an unexpected loss of electrical systems could increase the risk of an accident, resulting in serious injury or death to the rider, passenger and/or other road users.
What should consumers do?
Once a remedy becomes available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by BMW Motorrad and advised to contact their authorised dealer to have the rectification completed, free of charge.

What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, oil may leak past the engine piston rings. If this occurs, the engine could stall causing the rear wheel to lock leading to a loss of motive power and vehicle control whilst riding.
In addition, oil could leak and contact the hot muffler resulting in a vehicle fire.
What are the hazards?
A loss of motive power and vehicle control whilst riding or/and a vehicle fire, could increase the risk of serious injury or death to riders, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.
What should consumers do?
Note: This recall supersedes REC-006511
Note: Until the rectification is carried out, please check your engine oil level before every ride and if you experience any abnormal engine noise, or vibration occurs, stop riding at once and contact an authorised Honda Motorcycle Dealer.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Honda Australia Motorcycles asking them to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.
