Reed determined to clock up another victory at Anaheim
As defending AMA/World Supercross Champion Chad Reed arrives in Anaheim for the second time in 2009 there is one thing on his mind, maintaining his run of podium finishes in the elite series.
Reed is currently second in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross point score after finishing third and second respectively at the opening two rounds of the series held in Anaheim and Phoenix.
This weekend, the Australian is hoping to record his first victory of the year and his seventh at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium.
“I’ve said all along that it is vital to finish on the podium at all rounds of the series to keep me in good stead to defend my championship title at the business end of the season,” Reed explained.
“This weekend will be no different but hopefully, if all goes to plan I will be also be celebrating my first AMA win since joining Rockstar Makita Suzuki.
“In saying that, I am not going to make any mistakes that might cost me in the long run.
“As I learnt last year, the key to winning championships is being consistent and finishing every race in the best position possible.
“We have shown at the last two rounds of the series that we have the pace to be at the front and this week I have been working on my starts to try and give me an edge on Saturday night.
“The bike feels great and I am feeling fantastic so there is no reason why I can’t keep the momentum going this weekend,” Reed added.
Anaheim 2 is the third round of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship with the 17 round series travelling around America and Canada before the winner is declared in Las Vegas in May.
