Triumph get serious with the Ohlins/PVM/Brembo equipped Speed Triple R
— By Trevor Hedge
On the high-performance nakedbike front Triumph are set to release by far their hottest nakedbike yet in the shape of a new Speed Triple R replete with high-spec Ohlins suspension at both ends.
The Swedish suspension supremos are supplying NIX30 43mm forks with a TTX36 rear shock absorber to ensure the Speed Triple performs like never before.
Specialist wheel manufacturer PVM will shod the Speed Triple R with lightweight five-spoke forged aluminium rims a full 1.7kg lighter than those on the standard machine.
The name dropping continues with Brembo providing radial monoblock calipers with switchable ABS available as an option.
Expected to arrive in March the new Speed Triple R will be available in a metallic black or white with red sub-frame and highlights.
The latest generation Speed Triple, as tested by us, had really come of age in the drivetrain department but was still let down a little by its suspension. Something that Triumph are set to remedy with the Speed Triple R in 2012.
