Yamaha confirms Australian 2026 sportsbike line-up changes, pricing and ETA’s

Yamaha MY26 Supersport

Yamaha Motor Australia has confirmed its 2026 Supersport lineup, led by a substantially updated YZF-R7, which receives new electronics, chassis revisions and connectivity upgrades.  The R7 will be available in both full power and LAMS editions for our market, where it has already proven itself a runaway sales success story.

Other R-Series models return largely unchanged, but are now available with 70th Anniversary Edition colours celebrating seven decades since the founding of Yamaha Motor Company in 1955.

2026 YZF-R7 – Major Update

The 2026 YZF-R7 introduces a range of new features designed to enhance performance and handling. The model will continue to be offered in High Output (HO) and LAMS (LA) versions, both powered by the 270-degree CP2 twin.

Key YZF-R7 updates for MY26

• Revised steel tubular frame, asymmetrical swingarm, and lighter KYB forks
• SpinForged aluminium wheels reduce unsprung mass
• New 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app
• Third-generation quickshifter with up and downshift functionality
• Six-axis IMU derived from the YZF-R1
• Traction Control (TCS), Slide Control (SCS), Lift Control (LIF), Brake Control (BC), Engine Brake Management (EBM) and Launch Control (LC)
• Customisable Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) modes, including multiple track presets
• Revised seat and handlebar ergonomics
• Compatibility with the Y-TRAC Rev app for lap timing and data analysis

Both the HO and LA models will be available in Team Yamaha Blue, Raven, and Breaker Cyan/Raven, with a 70th Anniversary Edition also offered.

YZF-R1 and R1M

The 2026 YZF-R1 and R1M carry over unchanged mechanically from 2025 but gain new graphics, including a 70th Anniversary Edition of the R1 in red and white speed block livery.

YZF-R9

After its debut in 2025, the YZF-R9 returns for 2026 with no mechanical changes. The 890 cc triple continues with full IMU-based electronics and adjustable suspension. A new 70th Anniversary Edition joins the colour lineup.

YZF-R3

The 321 cc YZF-R3 also remains mechanically unchanged but gains new colours, including Mint Green/Matt Black and a 70th Anniversary Edition.

YZF-R6 RACE and YZF-R15M

The track-only YZF-R6 RACE remains in production, repriced at $16,649 ride-away, while the YZF-R15M continues unchanged at $6,499 ride-away.

70th Anniversary Editions

To mark Yamaha’s 70th anniversary, four special-edition models, the YZF-R1, R9, R7, and R3, will be available in white and red speed block livery, inspired by the 1999 YZF-R7 Superbike.
