More Than Just More Power: Yoshimura’s Clever New YZ450F Hybrid Exhaust

Advertorial - YZ450F Exhaust Upgrade - Yoshimura RS-12 Hybrid System YZ450F

YZ450F Exhaust Upgrade

Yoshimura RS-12 Hybrid System YZ450F

Yamaha’s completely redesigned 2026 YZ450F has earned plenty of praise for its broad, easy-to-ride power delivery. But like every production motocross machine, the factory exhaust is designed to satisfy a wide range of riders, emissions requirements and noise regulations.

For riders looking to unlock more performance without sacrificing rideability, Yoshimura believes it has found a better solution.

The new RS-12 Hybrid Full System has been designed specifically for the 2026 YZ450F, combining increased performance with a unique engineering solution that addresses one of the biggest frustrations owners encounter when working on the latest Yamaha.

The aluminium RS-12 muffler uses a carbon-fibre end cap, while an internal secondary resonator helps tune power delivery and exhaust character.

A smarter approach to exhaust design

Rather than simply producing another lightweight performance exhaust, Yoshimura started by looking at the challenges presented by Yamaha’s new exhaust layout.

The result is what Yoshimura describes as a true hybrid construction. The section of the header most exposed to rocks, roost and impacts is manufactured from durable stainless steel, while a titanium mid-pipe and aluminium RS-12 muffler help reduce overall weight. A carbon-fibre end cap completes the package.

However, the biggest innovation isn’t the choice of materials.

Instead of copying the factory header layout around the front of the engine, Yoshimura completely re-engineered that section into a split-header design that dramatically simplifies installation and removal.

Anyone who has wrestled with removing the standard 2026 YZ450F header will immediately appreciate the difference.

Performance that shows on the dyno

Ease of installation would mean little if the performance wasn’t there, but Yoshimura’s dyno development indicates substantial improvements throughout the rev range.

According to Yoshimura testing, the RS-12 Hybrid Full System delivers gains of up to 9.3 per cent more horsepower and 9.6 per cent more torque at 6,200 rpm when compared with the standard exhaust.

Rather than simply chasing peak numbers, Yoshimura says the objective was to strengthen usable power where riders spend most of their time.

A volume-specific header resonator, combined with a secondary resonator integrated into the front section of the muffler, helps shape the power delivery while also producing the signature Yoshimura exhaust note.

Developed by racers

Yoshimura’s long association with motocross and off-road racing remains central to every exhaust system it produces.

Product options

For riders wanting the maximum performance improvement, the complete RS-12 Hybrid Full System combines the redesigned header, titanium mid-pipe and RS-12 muffler into one package.

Alternatively, riders can retain the standard header while fitting the RS-12 Slip-On muffler.

For riders who want stronger mid-range performance, reduced weight, easier servicing and the unmistakable Yoshimura sound, the new Hybrid System offers considerably more than just another aftermarket exhaust.
