24 Hour Reliability Trial set down for July 11-12 at Eudunda
That’s the question we ask as we look forward to the 2009 Yamaha 24 Hour Reliability Trail. With the date now set at July 11th & 12th 2009 beginning at the Eudunda oval, planning is in full swing for this unique event, and it’s already shaping up to be the biggest and best ever.
With the factory Kawasaki rider Shane Diener breaking the record books in 2008 by winning 5 in a row and taking his total to ten, there have been plenty of big guns aiming to make a start in the 2009 event. This year saw the most exposure ever with Dirt Action, ADB, Trailzone and Trailrider magazine all running stories about 2008’s epic event. We had riders coming from all over Australia and even overseas with New Zealand’s off road gun Chris Power hitting the start line and finishing an impressive 3rd outright in his first attempt, and he will be back next year for sure. Craig Douglas will be back after an error cost him badly in 2008, as he has some unfinished business. With rumours of Ben Grabham, Brad Williscroft and many other factory back rider looking to enter for 2009, numbers are sure to fill up fast. Numbers will be limited and early bird entries will receive a discounted price.
Shane Diener saying “It’s one of the best events in Australia for sure, if not the world, as it’s so unique, not only is it mentally and physical draining but bike preparation is a huge factor. To ride at night also adds to the challenge and working on your bike in the darkness isn’t easy. It’s the biggest buzz when you’re wide open through a special section at 1am and there’s a huge camp fires and everyone’s cheering you on, nothing beats that. It’s not only riding fast for one special section but for the whole 24 hours, consistency is the key, and not wrecking yourself or your bike”.
We are working on a number of changes, as request by sponsors, riders and spectators to continue to improve this event, one being every section timed to the second. With different terrain & the Eudunda community getting behind the event we are aiming to make it a must do event for 2009 and beyond. As we are expecting big numbers in 2009 we will be capping the entries at 200, so be sure to get your entry in fast once they open in the New Year.
