In a further bid to support breeding grounds for future road racers, Honda Australia has signed on as naming right’s sponsor for the Australian Junior Longtrack Championships to be held at the Central Coast Junior Motorcycle Club (CCJMMC), July 3 – 5, 2009.
Honda – along with Wayne Gardner Enterprises and Michelin – are to sponsor the event which provides an opportunity for riders from just six years of age and up the opportunity to compete and participate in support events within 18 different classes.
“We are very pleased to get behind this national Championship,” said Honda’s General Manager, Motorcycles, Tony Hinton.
“Australia has seen some top riders come through the dirt track racing ranks who have gone on to have wonderful international careers.”
“This form of racing is very beneficial for those juniors who are interested in both road as well as off road competition, so it is a great avenue for us to support young talent,” Mr Hinton added.
CCJMMC President David Smith The Junior Dirt Track community are delighted that Honda will support a National Championship event for the second year in a row.
“It is great to have such a prominent manufacturer supporting the sport at a junior level. After the huge success of last year’s Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships, also held at the Central Coast Junior Motorcycle Club Inc., it is great to see Honda back as naming right sponsor of this year’s Long Track event,” Mr Smith said.
“Honda’s sponsorship has helped develop track and facility upgrades to promote a safer racing environment.”
“We are proud to have such a strong and important association with Honda Australia and I’m sure this year’s 2009 Honda/Michelin Australian Junior Long Track Championships will be another successful event.”
The Australian Junior Longtrack Championships is expected to attract nearly 200 entries. The event will take place at Allen Park MVRG, Debenham Road, North, Somersby, NSW.
