Coxhell to debut BMW S 1000 RR in Darwin
The 2009 ASBK privateer champion Craig Coxhell is looking forward to his 2010 debut at round two of the Viking Australian Superbike Championship on board the teams all new BMW S 1000 RR. Aiming to follow on from last year’s successful debut with Bisley Workwear, the team has found another exciting new partner in Southbank BMW and look forward to get back amongst the action.
Craig Coxhell: ‘We had a great first year last year and are looking forward to getting to terms with the exciting new S 1000 RR. Gary House is preparing the bikes as we speak and we’ll be able to give them a shakedown and some preliminary testing prior to Darwin, where we’ll be running the stock engine. That shouldn’t be an issue – from all reports and the feel from when I rode one earlier this year that should be enough to get us in the ballpark. The stock motor seriously rips. We’ve also been able to secure Dave Cullen to help us out with suspension and setup this year, so we’re looking forward to working with Dave again. We have a successful history together and it’s a pleasure to be alongside Dave again.”
Rob Coxhell: ‘We’re treating this year as a development year – obviously the bikes have only just arrived and we’ve missed the first round, but we’re hoping to get up to speed fairly quickly with some great support from BMW, particularly Chris Bussenschutt and the team at BMW Southbank. We’re also extremely pleased to be continuing our relationships with Bisley Workwear and the guys from Ankermann and the support from our partner suppliers such as Sportsbike tyre warmers. It’s a pretty amazing year really in the ASBK this year; with the inclusion of the all new S 1000 RR there will be 8 manufacturers going for it which makes for exceptional racing and when you throw in Darwin as a new track – anything could happen. We know there are a lot of very excited BMW riders out there who are keen to see the bikes on track and we’ll do our best to put on a great show. ’
— Jeremy Crowe to race BMW S1000RR in AFXC
Rob Dunston from Motohansa has confirmed that the Motohansa Laser Exhaust Race Team will be racing the new BMW S 1000 RR exclusively in the 2010 Australasian Formula Extreme Series. Rob is hoping for some serious action packed racing between Team Yamaha and the Motohansa BMW’s.
The team now will be a two bike team, with young upcoming star Glenn Scott moving up from the 125GP class to ride along side Jeremy Crowe. Glenn has achieved fantastic results in his career to date with the Australian 125GP championship trophy in the trophy cabinet and best place of 7th in the 2009 Spanish 125GP series. Both Jeremy and Glenn are keen to give the BMW S 100 RR its first test at Wakefield Park on the 16th March.
Matt Graham has been finding his way around the new bikes, preparing them for the testing at Wakefield. Fitting all new race bodywork, full Laser titanium exhaust, adjustable GP pattern rear sets, Ohlins suspension front and rear and all the work required for race preparation has been achieved by Matt in a very tight window of time.
Motohansa are also very pleased and excited to have Glenn Scott bring Fuglies Sunglasses and Insure My Ride into the team to join up with our other existing major sponsors Laser Exhausts, Silkolene Oils, Bendix Brakes and Wunderlich BMW Accessories.
The new bikes will be presented at Wakefield Park next Tuesday in plain white colours before the boys at Collide a Scope in Sydney’s north do their thing and transform them into a colourful racing identity. Matching leathers for both riders will be stitched up by our old friend Doug at DBT leathers in Yagoona. We have planned this new team from the ground up and are grateful for the support and help we are receiving from many people to be on the start line for the first round of the Formula Xtreme series at Wakefield Park on 27th March.
