Calvin wins Open and Lites as AJS stages WA MX Rnd 3 at Wanneroo Park
Wanneroo Park put on a magnificent event on the weekend under a blue sky and a perfect 22c winter day.
The track held up well and all the best riders were out in force to put on a great show in front a good crowd. AJS Club have built new facilities, and although most of it is operational, the King of the Sand Event to be held on August 14th should showcase the club looking at its new best. The King of the Sand will be the second weekend of the massive Motocross week in WA, immediately after The King of the Cross on the 7th of August. Tipped to be the richest week on offer over the two weekends, riders will be out in force to cash in.
The WA State Championships has lured 2009 Champ Louis Calvin back to WA, riding both the Pro Open and Pro Lites classes, Louis took the double for the round winning both, he will be off to Victoria to compete at the Rockstar MX Nationals on July 3rd at Wodonga in the Pro Open Class where he is holding 9th position.
Current series leader Michael Addison took second after a hard fought day with Calvin, the lead changing in all races multiple times keeping the crowd enthralled at every corner. Michael Addison mentioned on the podium that this was the first time Louis had beaten him outright for the win for a round, and applauded the youngster on how far he had come.
Paul Humberston capped off the podium taking 3rd and maintaining his second position for the series. Daniel Woodward had moments of brilliance with a huge holeshot in the first race. Anthony Hicks rounded out the top five.

Pro Lites saw David Birch take first blood after leading the first race from start to finish unchallenged while Louis Calvin came through for second with Erhard Pajewski in third.
Race two saw Ashley Whisler with the holeshot before Calvin took the lead early, and Whisler held second while Birch, Craig Bolton and Robbie Clark fought it out for 3rd.
The Wanneroo track turned into somewhat of a survival course for third and final bout with Calvin still putting in sub two-minute laps to take a massive 48 second win over series leader David Birch, Whisler third.

The Quad Championship to the spectator were somewhat out shone by the Clubman Quad class, with massive holeshots, great passing and not to mention some spectacular offs which left everyone’s eyes peeled.
Meanwhile the Championship Quad Class saw Ryan Lancaster take a hard fought win in the first race, while a mechanical failure ended his day in the second, leaving Luke Gaisford to take the win in the final motos for the round win to increase his series lead to 36 points.
Adam Larson took second for the round with 3rd-2nd-2nd while Jordan Dummett with a 4th-3rd-3rd took the final spot on the overall podium and his consistency has him in second place for the series, 29 points in front of the youngest rider on the grid, 16 year old Josh McKay on 50 points fourth in the points, Brad Filbey in 5th.

The Clubman Lites saw youngster Dylan Lowry with the win, Intermediate Lites- Reece Colgan, Intermediate Open – Hayden Vermeer, Vets Garry Maxwell, Pro Vets – Steve Mouritz.
Round 4 will be held on July 17th at Shrublands Park, Bunbury.
