Coxhell teams up with Jeffrey Honda and G.A.S. Honda for 2009 ASC campaign
2003 Australian Superbike Champion Craig ‘Cannonball’ Coxhell, is set for an all out assault on the 2009 ASBK title with his new dealer supported Honda team – CJC Racing.
The all-new team is based out of the Coxhell family’s Shepparton Motor Body Builder’s facilities in Craig’s home town.
Ferntree Gully dealer Jeffrey Honda are supplying Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade machines while Geoff Winzer’s G.A.S. Honda in Wangaratta will prepare the engines.
“There has always been a part of me that wanted my own team and the time was right to put it together. I need to thank all the people who have stepped in to provide support to make this team a reality. The generosity and eagerness to help from people like the boys at Jeffrey Honda and Geoff Winzer from G.A.S. Honda has been truly humbling. We’ve been able to put a great team together and should hit the ground running this season”, says Craig.
Jeffrey Honda’s Don Street; “We’re really excited to be back in the series as part of the CJC Racing team. Craig is not only quick enough, but he’s genuinely a good kid. I can’t wait to have the opportunity to work with another dealer (G.A.S.) as it doesn’t often happen and we are happy to work with Geoff and we know Craig appreciates our help so we’ll all be giving it all we can to get some good results.”
G.A.S. Honda’s Geoff Winzer; “We’ve had some good results as a privateer in seasons past with Glenn (Allerton) and Russell (Holland) and I am delighted to be getting behind Craig and the team this year. We have everything we need to be able to get some good results. I think we’ll surprise a few people.”
Craig is yet to secure a major sponsor and is he hoping to do so before the first round. “We’re putting the finishing touches on the race transporter at the moment. This team is not something we’re doing by halves, the opportunity for the major sponsor will be with one with the most professionally presented, most competitive teams on the grid. On top of that we’ve got a bunch of people who are committed to making it work – some of the best people in the industry”, says Craig.
Craig and the team will compete in the new look Superbike championship (ASBK) this year and will be aiming to start the season at Phillip Island on the 27th Feb (round one) with a win.
The team would further like to thank the following sponsors: ASBK, V3 Design, Wurth Australia, Bell Real Estate, AGV Helmets, Monza Imports, Gas Imports, Akrapovic, CMCC Telecommunications, NGK, Afam, KLS Tyre Warmers.
Any interested sponsors are invited to make contact with Craig directly. We may be contacted here for his number.
