Ducati Panigale V th Anniversary
The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 is powered by the 1103 cm³ Desmosedici Stradale with a counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order. The engine can deliver 214 hp at 13,000 rpm. A billet aluminium dry clutch and titanium Akrapovič silencers are some of the specialised extra features of the bike over a standard Panigale V4 Stransforms the Desmosedici Stradale that powers the “25° Anniversario 916” into a true object of Ducatisti desire. An open carbon fibre clutch cover, mounted as standard, is a throwback to the days of the Ducati 916, resulting in that classic metallic sound loved by all Ducatisti.

In 2019 a quarter of a century will have elapsed since the Ducati 916 arrived on the global stage, forever changing the Superbike world. Born from Massimo Tamburini’s sketches, this bike has revolutionized the world of motorcycle design and has made fans fall in love all over the planet. Incredibly innovative in its style, elegance, lightweight and compactness, by many it’s believed to be the sexiest and most iconic bike ever built.

Ducati Panigale V th Anniversary Fogarty
The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 livery takes its inspiration from the Ducati 996 SBK with which Carl Fogarty won the 1999 World Superbike championship. The Ducati Red-based colour scheme is complemented by a World Champion “1” on the front and lateral number holders. The lower half of the tank features a black stripe that extends to the frame and the side fairing vents; the overall result is a more dynamic side-on look that is also reminiscent of the 996 SBK carbon fibre air-box. The colour black also extends to the lower fairings and headlight mounts, giving the two frontal air intakes a wider, beefier look. The rider’s seat sports the same bi-colour look as the rest of the bike, with a clear separation between the black and the red that extends to the rear pad.

The Ducati 916 wasn’t just a beautiful bike and an enormous sales success. It also won World Superbike championships: the 916 SBK was a force to be reckoned with even as it made its debut in 1994, and the following years saw it win 120 races, 8 constructors’ titles and 6 riders’ titles, four of them with Carl Fogarty. The Englishman has won 55 races with Ducati, of wich 43 riding a Ducati 916 SBK and 996 SBK. “King Carl” and the 916 remain the most successful “couple” in Ducati SBK history.

The front frame, which exploits
the Desmosedici Stradale engine as a structural chassis element, is the same as the one on the Panigale
V4 R but differs slightly on account of the lighter, machined sides; these ensure attainment of the
stiffness goals set by Ducati Corse and reduce weight even further. The frame is coupled to an Öhlins
NIX-30 fork, an Öhlins TTX36 rear shock and a steering damper – again Öhlins – all managed by the
Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 control system. This gives the rider access to next-level dynamic bike control,
augmenting on-road safety and shortening on-track lap times.

The “25° Anniversario 916” is built on the mechanics of the Panigale V4 S. This has been upgraded with racing content from the Panigale V4 R such as the Front Frame, designed to Ducati Corse specifications.

Ducati Panigale V th Anniversary Carl Fogarty
DQS EVO 2 – another Panigale V4 R offshoot – reduces upshift times, allowing the sportier high-rev gear shifts (over 10,000 rpm) typical of track riding and boosting shift stability during aggressive
acceleration and cornering.

Forged magnesium wheels, a titanium type-approved Akrapovič exhaust and a long list of Ducati Performance components complete the package.

Ducati Panigale V th Anniversary Jason Chinnock Carl Fogarty and Francesco Milicia
For its world-first preview, Ducati chose round nine of the Superbike World Championship, taking place this weekend at Laguna Seca (California, USA). Here, Francesco Milicia (VP Global Sales & After Sales Director Ducati Motor Holding), Jason Chinnock (CEO Ducati North America) and Carl Fogarty unveiled the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916.

The presentation of the bike was also an occasion of remembrance, honouring Californian Carlin Dunne, the Spider Grips Ducati team rider who recently died at Pikes Peak. Jason Chinnock announced Ducati’s decision to remove the number 5 from selling, the same number that Dunne used to race with. The bike will be auctioned, with proceeds going to a fund-raising effort aimed at providing Carlin’s mother with support.

Ducati Panigale V th Anniversary Fogarty
Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 comes with the Ducati Data Analyser+ (DDA+) kit with GPS module. The Ducati Data Analyser+ (DDA+) is a telemetry system. Similar to those used in competitions, it consists of a data acquisition device (via CAN line) and analysis software (for Windows or Mac PCs) that takes its inspiration from professional programmes. The device records ride parameters such as cornering lines, RPM, gear, throttle aperture angle, front brake pressure, DTC intervention etc. and geo-locates them on the track. Once disconnected from the bike and connected to the PC via the USB port, the software lets the user upload the acquired data feeds and analyse on-track performance. More data than Carl ever had access to back in his day.

“I’m thrilled to be here at this event,” stated Carl Fogarty after riding the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 onto the stage at Pebble Beach. “The Ducati 916 gave me some fantastic, unforgettable moments. It played a starring role in my career and in the history of the World Superbike Championship. On the wider motorcycling scene, it set a whole new standard of style and performance. I’m proud to have played a pivotal role in that success story, and equally proud to be here today and celebrate this important anniversary by officially unveiling this breath-taking bike.”

Ultralight forged magnesium Marchesini Racing wheels – which, compared to the Panigale V4 S, reduce unsprung weight by 1 kg – make the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 even quicker and more agile
through the corners.
The top-drawer braking system consists of two 330 mm Brembo discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers up front and a single 245 mm disc with a 2-piston caliper at the rear.

The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 will arrive in dealerships starting from October 2019 at a price of 41,900 euro ex-works. That converts at today’s exchange rate to about $67,000 AUD but the Australian retail price is yet to be announced.
