KTM 990 RC R Track
KTM has announced the 990 RC R TRACK, a circuit-only version of the 990 RC R that deletes road equipment and adds track-focused hardware, electronics options and race-ready accessories.
The 990 RC R TRACK is not street legal. KTM says the lights, mirrors, side stand, and other road requirements have been removed, with a simplified track configuration intended to be low-maintenance and straightforward to repair.
The fairing is injection-moulded plastic for decals and graphics, while a higher screen is designed for a full tuck.
KTM also lists a wet-weather tail light and a paddock stand supplied as standard, along with simplified controls and dash functions for track use.
Tyres are Michelin Power Slicks on 17-inch rims in 120/70 front and 190/55 rear sizing. Suspension is fully adjustable WP APEX, with KTM stating baseline settings were developed through testing at European circuits.
Electronics are built around three customisable Track Modes, with KTM claiming a two-kilogram saving through a more compact electronics system. Adjustable parameters listed include throttle response, traction control, slip adjustment, anti-wheelie, launch control and engine braking.
A pit limiter and Quickshifter+ are also included, with lap information displayed through a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT.
Aerodynamics reference KTM’s MotoGP program, with the RC16 cited as inspiration for the 990 RC R TRACK’s profile. KTM says the bodywork incorporates wings and edges designed to improve downforce and cornering stability under acceleration.
The fuel tank capacity is listed at 15.7 litres and seat height at 857 mm.
Braking hardware includes a 320 mm front disc with Brembo HyPure calipers and a 240 mm rear disc. KTM positions the system as a performance upgrade relative to the ABS-equipped setup used on the road-going 990 RC R.
The engine is KTM’s 947 cc parallel twin DOHC LC8c, with claimed output of 133 hp (99.3 kW) and 105 Nm at 7000 rpm. While there is no official confirmation, MCNews.com.au believes that simple upgrades will make it nudger 150 horsepower.
KTM specifies an Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust system in stainless steel with a claimed weight of 3 kg and a quoted 98.2 dB noise figure.
KTM also notes gearbox changes described as a longer first gear and a shorter sixth.
KTM unveiled the 990 RC R TRACK alongside the 990 RC R and has linked it to the KTM 990 RC R CUP, a six-round European one-make series aimed at non-professional riders.
For Australia and New Zealand, KTM says the 990 RC R TRACK will be available in extremely limited numbers through authorised dealers from May 2026.
