KTM Racing Team AusProMX 2026 Preview

KTM Racing Team will arrive with a talented four-rider lineup at Wonthaggi’s opening round of the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship on March 21-22, where Nathan Crawford and Zac Watson will lead the new-look team’s MX1 charge, alongside MX2 teammates Byron Dennis and Dylan Walsh.

The anticipated new season is dropping the gates at the picturesque Wonthaggi venue in the south-east of Victoria, providing a Bass Coast backdrop to commence the eight-round national motocross championship across a two-day format.

After achieving a career-high runner-up result in the premier class last season, Queenslander Nathan Crawford has completed a solid pre-season that will have him READY TO RACE once again this year. The number three is now putting the final touches on his preparation aboard the KTM 450 SX-F, motivated to challenge for the MX1 title in 2026.

The 28-year-old delivered a standout motocross campaign in 2025, recording seven podium finishes from eight appearances, and this year marks Crawford’s fifth-consecutive term with the KTM Racing Team.

“We’re closing in on the start of a new season with the team and it feels like business as usual. Entering my fifth year with the KTM Racing Team, we’ve got a solid foundation to build from, and are aiming to take further steps forward so we can fight for the MX1 championship in 2026. That is the goal, to be in the race for the title throughout 2026, and we’re excited to get to Round 1 at Wonthaggi.”

Joining Crawford onboard the KTM 450 SX-F is 2025 revelation Zac Watson, who confirmed his status as an MX1 front-runner last year with P5 in the final standings. Watson and the KTM Racing Team have since focused on refining his racecraft ahead of the 2026 campaign, building upon his national experience at only 21 years of age.

“The KTM Racing Team has been unreal. They’ve gone to all ends to help me out and get me comfortable, so I feel like we are in a pretty solid place. We’ve just been putting in a lot of time ahead of Round 1 and hopefully we come out swinging at Wonthaggi. I’m looking forward to seeing what the opener brings this year, as well as the entire 2026 championship.”

Byron Dennis and Dylan Walsh bring a blend of youth and experience to the KTM Racing Team MX2 roster, both equipped with the KTM 250 SX-F and are determined to consistently make an impact as the season progresses.

For 19-year-old Dennis – who was ultra-consistent on his way to fifth in points last year – it’s a case of building on strong foundations set in the pre-season after an exceptional end to 2025.

“I’m feeling good coming into 2026. We had a really strong finish to supercross last year with a podium in Adelaide, and went into the off-season healthy, which was nice. That’s something that’s hurt me in the past – going into the break injured and having to rebuild from basically zero during pre-season. This time, I was able to take some time off, enjoy it, and then get back to work with a solid base. We’ll keep putting in the work and come out swinging with the KTM Racing Team at Wonthaggi!”

For Walsh, at 28 years of age he is in a position to capitalise on immense international experience gained throughout his career.

“I’m really looking forward to the new season coming up! So far, we’ve had a really good pre-season and have the KTM 250 SX-F in a good spot, so now I’m just hanging out for that first gate drop together with the team outdoors.”

In addition, KTM Racing Team will continue to support Jackson Fuller in the MX3 category of the ProMX Championship, also equipped with the KTM 250 SX-F. He claimed sixth in the series last year and is aiming to build upon that form this season.

Nick Romano joins Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has welcomed Nick Romano for the remainder of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Romano is slated to compete in the Eastern Divisional 250SX Class aboard his KX250 and will sport the No. 141. Romano will make his debut at the first East/West Showdown of the season at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.

This opportunity could not have come at a better time, and I’ve prepared for it the best I can. I feel healthy and mentally clear, and everything has gone well this off-season. I’m ready to be back at the races and show what I’m capable of.”

Romano joins the team as a fill-in rider for the injured Drew Adams, who sustained a thumb injury at Daytona Supercross and is currently recovering from surgery. Adams will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Romano previously found success with Kawasaki Team Green during his amateur career aboard the KX65, KX™85 and KX112, capturing numerous victories at premier amateur events, including Mini O’s and the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross. He also earned multiple podium finishes at the Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s.

Romano made his pro debut in 2022 and has accomplished multiple Top-10 SMX finishes, although injuries have kept him from competing to his full potential, as he missed most of 2025. During this off-season, Romano has been riding a privateer KX450, making for an easy transition to the Pro Circuit KX250 race machine.

Daniel Sanders leads Rally-Raid Portugal after Prologue

Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), started the Rally-Raid Portugal with a bang, setting the pace ahead of Tosha Schareina (Monster Energy Honda HRC). The top 10 are just 8 seconds apart.

“The shoulder is good. That was the easy thing. It was a clean break, and my surgeon is really good in Australia, and he fixed it when I got home, which was important to help the recovery faster for this event. So, I had four weeks off the motorbike and training because also I ripped my leg muscle really bad. I had a 7 cm tear in my leg, which was really hard the last two days of racing [at the Dakar] because it got worse every day, and I had to grip with the bike, not my arms. So, we tried to do some riding and the last two weeks before we came overseas for the race and some training, so it was actually really good.

“The physical is not 100% but it wasn’t 100% in the Dakar either. It’s good enough to be here and you don’t have to be super strong here. The corner speed is really important. This year will be a little bit different with it being more wet, and maybe the weather with some rain coming as well. It’s going to be more suiting, I guess, the enduro guys who like that slippery conditions.

“My dream is to come to the rally and have a full wet mud race. That has always been my dream. I don’t think we’ll get a full mud race here. It’s like my best race is in enduro, where in the wet and the terrain I do really well. Where I live is the slipperiest terrain I have, and I do really well. I grew up I had to learn riding motorbikes on this and that’s where I have really good traction control, so that helps. I think it’s still going to be tight, there’s three guys. Before Adrian crashed out last year, he was close to the front, there’s three of us on the first day but then there’s some bigger gaps back, and it’s really hard to make time here.”

Bou and Marcelli win X-Trial of Nations for Spain

Seville hosted another edition of the X-Trial of Nations this Saturday, with Repsol Honda HRC riders Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli representing and winning for Spain.

The Spanish representatives led the way from the start and, after topping the standings on the first two laps, they secured their place in the final with authority.

In the decisive round, they reaffirmed their dominance and triumphed over the other participating countries to lift the title. They were followed by Jack Peace and Harry Hemingway, representing Great Britain in second place, and the Italian duo of Matteo Grattarola and Francesco Titli in third.

For Bou, who just a week ago secured his 20th individual indoor championship, this victory marks his tenth X-Trial of Nations title. It is a first for Marcelli in an incredible debut for the young Galician rider -who already boasts three other titles with the national team in the outdoor version of the competition.

I’m also very happy for Gabri, who competed in this event for the first time and did a fantastic job.
