Australia’s Red Centre is about to spring to life on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend (June 5-8) as the countries leading offroad racers converge on Alice Springs to compete in the Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race.
Now in it’s 34th year, the Finke has once again attracted former winners and new comers alike all with the aim of conquering the toughest track mother nature could muster.
The Tattersall’s Finke Desert Race commences with scrutineering in Alice Springs on Friday June 5th at Blatherskite Park Showgrounds from 5pm.
Thousands are expected to flock to the evening which provides a great opportunity to check out the bikes before they are unleashed on the desert.
Racing commences on Saturday morning, with the prologue that is used to determine the starting order for day 1.
The race to Finke kicks off on Sunday June 8th with competitors working their way through the checkpoints at Deep Well, Rodinga, Bundooma and Mt Squires on their way to Finke.
After a night under the stars, competitors regroup at Finke for Mondays return leg to Alice Springs which will commence at 7.30am with the winning vehicle expected in Alice Springs around 9am.
