Nicholas Waters Continues Asia Dream Cup Podium Fight

The consecutive Japanese rounds of the Asia Dream Cup saw Nicholas Waters improve his times and retain his place in the top ten as he continues his fight towards a podium finish.

Held at the iconic Suzuka Circuit, Nicholas spent much of round 4 jostling with the front of the field achieving the 2nd fastest time in warm up and 6th in qualifying. Rain during the races proved a challenge and he crossed the line in 9th and 7th in race 1 and race 2 respectively.

Just one week later Nicholas was back on his CBR250R at Japan’s Autopolis International Race Course for round 5. After qualifying in 10th Nicholas spent much of race 1 in the front running pack up until the final lap when several riders crashed sending him off the track and into the gravel, recovering his CBR250R he rode to finish in 12th position.

After a good start in race 2 Nicholas was in 2nd position at the half-way mark. Struggling on the straights, Nicholas fought hard to the end and crossed the line in 7th position.

Held in conjunction with the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship, the 2013 Asia Dream Cup has proved itself to be competitive in every round. Nicholas has shown immense improvement since the start of the season, learning how to push the CBR250R to its limits while competing against riders much smaller in size.

Asia Dream Cup trainer and former MotoGP and World Superbike star rider Shinya Nakano believes Nicholas’ experiences in the ADC will help him to be more tactical in his future Superbike racing; “The type of close racing in the Asia Dream Cup teaches riders to be more aggressive and win on skill alone. If Nick can pick this one key point up from the ADC, it will help him in his future as a Superbike racer.”

With just one round remaining of the championship, Nicholas retains his position in 10th overall. The final round of the 2013 Asia Dream Cup will take place on November 21-23, 2013 at Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
